I can see us upping the first offer from 27M to 27.5M

We need him for Saturday and the board is busy fucking around. Smh. Jorginho's fatigue almost cost us a game against Newcastle on Saturday. The lack of urgency in which we do things is astonishing. Most of the time we still end up paying what the other team wants but after affecting our own team. take for example Bakayoko last season, we took all preseason to sign him when everyone knew he was going to be signed but we only signed him a week before the opening game. Guess what happened? He missed preseason never really settled and we lost the first game to Burnley. This season we only got Sarri days after preseason was scheduled to start, how is he supposed to implement a new philosophy with that much shortened time?? At times it feels like we are run by amateurs.

Leandro Paredes latest

Zenit St-Petersburg will NOT accept Chelsea’s £26.8million offer for midfield star Leandro Paredes.

Yesterday, La Gazette dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schirra claimed that Paredes had agreed a five-year deal with Chelsea worth £77k per week.

He added that Maurizio Sarri’s side were just waiting for Zenit to accept their £26.8m offer before the deal could be completed.

However, the transfer could be in jeopardy.

Russian news website RIA Novosti report that a source ‘familiar with the situation’ told them that Zenit would not allow Paredes to leave for that fee.

They paid Roma £24million to sign him in July 2017 and want a significant profit on a player who has impressed during his time at the club.

Are you saying we dont need him for Saturday? Jorginho looked tired during the 2nd half on Saturday because he has played way too many games, plus he was on a yellow. What happens if he picks up an early yellow on Saturday and we dont have his replacement on the bench ?

Yes, we need a backup, but to say if we have signed Paredes already then he is match-fit for this weekend in a London derby you are indeed having a laugh.

and here we goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:rant:

the old oki doke price raise every couple of days (memories of Alex Sandros, Koulibalys, Romagnolis past!)

Zenit St Petersburg want €40m from Chelsea for Leandro Paredes

Chelsea are hoping to bring in a new backup for Jorginho this January following the departure of Cesc Fabregas to AS Monaco. Maurizio Sarri himself has hammered his point home in multiple press conferences, and he’s not one to sully himself with such concerns normally.

The primary target, unless we’re about to do something drastically uncharacteristic like give Charlie Colkett a try, appears to be Zenit St. Petersburg’s Leandro Paredes. The 24-year-old was once been exposed to the ideas of Sarrismo from Sarri’s successor at Empoli, Marco Giampaolo, at Empoli, and has established himself as one of the better young deep-lying playmakers in Europe.

Last week, Chelsea reportedly offered €30m (or £26.8m as reported by the Evening Standard today), but as it’s so often the case in negotiations, that opening offer has been knocked back.According to Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella, Zenit was €40m instead.

Ffs dude ,save me from too much thought....heres my reasons posted earlier ."Even if we do get this dude, he will probly take a lot of time to get a)match fit =Russian league finished start of December for 3 month winter break,b)up to speed with the prem c) sarri's tactics d)moving to new location! Its why it would of made more sense to hold onto Fabregas until the summer! But i guess CFC don't do sense amongst afew other basic things! ie get rid of someone/position were we weak ,before bringing 1 in etc."

At least if the figures are true , they are not extortionate, read somewhere Roman just pocketed extra 500mill from a side firm he has 33% ownership in , so u do the math  . According to Forbes, Abramovich's net worth was US$11.5 billion in 2018

Price is starting to get much closer to the Barella price.  I guess he still has the issue of not wanting to move until the summer.

Buy Barella now and loan him back till summer. He is worth the wait. I truly fail to see why Ampadu cant be backup DH DMF for six months. He plays there at times for Wales and looked great. Or bloody Kovacic.

Because Sarri is so rigid and small minded? <_<

i'd prefer toure from empoli to him

completely different type of player to Paredes, who is a DH DMF

Traorè is a CMF/AMF/Winger

if you want the Hamed Junior Traorè version of alternative to Paredes it is Sandro Tonali

and Traorè is only 18 (like Tonali), so zero chance Sarri will play him regularly

I agree, would be a brilliant buy

but our board doesn't do brilliant:(

He didn't cost £24m, he cost 23m euros, so closer to £20m at July 2017 FOREX rates.

£32m is fair market value and allows Zenit well over a billion rouble profit, and in fact much more, as the rouble has crashed v the pound/euro since they signed Paredes They would profit around 1.3 billion roubles, historically adjusted.

That's a nice chunk for an 18 months holding.
