I always thought of reading it but never got too bothered to search for a good English version, maybe I will do it! I dont think I would have a problem with Nadsat when reading it, I think the problem was with the dude's voice really, I just didnt want to rewind every 15min.

Agree about Nolan...

Spielberg is always a surprise for me, I might absolutely love it and I might hate it to the bones! I must remeber to visit The Milky Way if I ever go to California. Is the food any good? Lol.

Gone with the Wind (the Brazilian title is much cooler though) is a fucking awesome movie. My favourite "old" films are 12 Angry Men and To Kill a Mockingbird; they have everything.

Both excellent movies and both serious courtroom dramas. Any interest in becoming a lawyer? :) To be honest, I don't really remember the food there. I think we just had like appetizers or something but it obviously wasn't bad or I'd remember. I didn't really go for the food. When I'm in L.A. I love going to eat Mexican food which is amazing there and they have these awesome delis all over too with diner booths which I love (like in Pulp Fiction except without being robbed by Tim Roth). There are so many interesting ways to watch films, but if you're interested in challenging yourself in a way, I'd recommend watching films by city. Watch 10-15 movies in a row from different time periods all set in the same city. It's absolutely fascinating to see the evolution, the recurrent themes, and even the styles that exist. (For example, New York films have often tended to be either representations of heaven or hell. The Taxi Driver/Escape from New York versus lots of Woody Allen/Miracle on 34th street vision. New York movies tend to have a lot of people walking and talking because it is a walking city, lots of romances set there, etc...)

I had a Norwegian girl come and visit me years back and I was showing her what films I had and she said she had never seen The Wizard of Oz so I made her watch it. It's such an important film beyond cinema and into culture. ("Friend of Dorothy" was a slang for being gay, if you'd say "We're not in Kansas anymore Toto" or "I'm Melting, I'm melting" or "there's no place like home (repeated)", "follow the yellow brick road" and other quotes... everybody knows exactly what the reference is immediately.

I thought of becoming one, but I chose engineering instead. Cant complain, I am loving it. However, I think I would have done well doing Law too, I like talking and arguing (pretty noticeable), but I decided to go with numbers instead of piles of texts to read. I would love to have had more time to think about it (I was really insecured when applying), but in brazil you have to say which course (major) you are going to take, it isnt like USA where you only choose the University. Pretty dumb if you ask me, how many 17yo know what they want to do for the rest of their lives? Anyways, this going way off topic. I am happy with what I have chosen and lets move on! :)

Well, I can assume the food was average? Not too bad to the point you would remmeber/complain nor too good to the point it would blow your mind! Definetly worth for the experience? You would love Sao Paulo, it has all sorts of crazy and different restaurants. Conde Nast Traveller gave it for the 3rd year in a row the award for best nightlife (restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, etc). We have a very, very good mexican restaurant called Yucatan Specialist. The cool thing about it is that it kept its identidy of small and "family owned" place even if the huge fame it is getting! Another off topic...

Very interesting, very true the way they portrait NYC. I will download different movies from different periods in the same scenario to see how it has changed. I will definetly do it someday. I really liked that idea mate! :)

The Magic of Oz never trigged me any interest. I dont know, maybe it is just not for me. My parents talk about it sometimes (specially after we went to see Wicked on Broadway), but it is not that popular in Brazil...

Have you watched Twin Peaks and Rabbits?

I loved the first season and a half of Twin Peaks. It goes downhill once the killer is revealed (pressure by the network). Rabbits is a little more uneven IMO. I once picked up a girl because she was a huge David Lynch fan (did drawings of him and everything). I grabbed a flashlight like Dean Stockwell in Blue Velvet and started singing In Dreams. You never know what bit of knowledge will work wonders for you down the road. My friend was just teaching English in Sao Paulo for a few months (until his visa expired) and he liked it. I'm sure I'd like it because I like almost everywhere although I have to say Brazilian Portuguese sounds weird to me because I grew up with a lot of Portuguese people and dated a Portuguese girl for 3 years, I got used to that sound with all it's "oozhes" and guttural "ng" sounds. (There are a lot of Brazilians in Toronto but they are in a different area of the city from where I went to school.)

My favourite Lynch is Mulholland Drive and not just because of he hot lesbian action. This scene is so Lynch...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71a4muF6Ak4

I cant keep a straight face when listening to Portuguese from Portugal, it is too funny!

Mulholland Drive is my second favourite Lynch movie, I personally prefer Blue Velvet. I have zero to maon about Mulholland though, it is as brilliant as well, just a matter of personal taste.

I think Twin Peaks was wrongly overlooked. It had an amazing first season and the second was good enough, but I honestly believe it would have thrived. TV shows always suffer a period of transition, sometimes it happens in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th season, but it always happen. Look at Dexter 4th season, Lost 3rd, Homeland will have a hard time creating expectations from now on (after they discover it wasnt the Brody), etc. Lynch even asked people to write letters for ABC so they would keep the show on and move it to a weekday, but it didnt work. I guess they are better showing Grey's Anatomy or Terra Nova, lol.

I'm glad Twin Peaks ended when it did. It's something I really admire about English shows. They have a number of episodes they want to do. They do them. They stop. In the US, they just keep going until it's bled dry. Fawlty Towers and I Claudius both had 12 or 13 episodes Sherlock has had 6, The Office is a perfect example. The English version had 14 excellent episodes. The American version is up to episode 192 and it's been crap for about 5 years. Always leave them wanting more. (I actually think Homeland would have been awesome, as much as I enjoyed last season, if it ended in the end of the first season with a successful suicide attack. It will inevitably jump the shark at some point and get ridiculous instead. )

I would generally agree, but Lynch did want to continue...

I know, but the series was already severely declining and the movie he made after (Fire Walk With Me) was maybe Lynch's worst movie. I think another season or two would have made the show worse more than anything else.
