Chelsea will lose Callum Hudson-Odoi unless they talk football, not finance

Despite no longer being the most freely-spending team in the Premier League, Chelsea still think they can buy their way out of trouble. With a team of finance people making decisions undiluted by a footballing mind, they think £100,000 a week will satisfy Callum Hudson-Odoi.

When all you have is a front office and a banker in the technical area, every problem looks like a wire transfer waiting to happen. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s representatives could not possibly be more clear about what the young Englishman wants the most at this stage of his career: regular starting minutes in a top division club competing for multiple trophies. A No. 10 jersey, if one became available at such a club, would signal the commitment he is looking for.

Bayern Munich understand this. They have football minds to spare at every level of that club. Chelsea do not know what to make of this. They have business people who think a check can solve most problems, and a bigger check can solve the rest.

The Evening Standard reports Chelsea have raised their offer to £100,000 a week, up from the £85,000 a week they offered Hudson-Odoi in January at the peak of Bayern’s interest. Nothing indicates Hudson-Odoi will be any more interested in the extra £15,000 a week than he was in the first £85,000, as it does not address his actual desires.

This sums up the club and it is frustrating that the club turn a blind eye to it.

Without football people in high positions in the club, the structure and identity is lacking.

And without a director of football in place there is no plan.

I've said it multiple times, if CHO plays regularly he'll sign a new contract. I'm very confident of that and I think his preference at present would be to play for a one of the biggest clubs in England who he has come up through their youth system as opposed to moving abroad to find regular football. He will not be the only one too. City are finding the same problem now with their youth players. If there is no pathway, they're not afraid to move elsewhere.

Looks like the only way to make him stay is giving him the LW position next season with Hazard leaving.

ESPN is tragically late and even more so wrong 90% of the time

they have a shit record on transfer prediction

the only redeeming part is that are not pure rumour mongers like the cuntish Spanish (THE WORST FOOTBALL JOURNOS IN THE WORLD) and the lower tier Italian rags

tiptop UK (so rare), Italian, and German journos are only ones wroth paying attention to IMHO unless it is about a Ligue 1 player, then the local French papers are pretty good (German local papers are great too), a lot of the national French rags are likely to bullshit like the low class Italian ones (still not as bad as Spanish shite)

Swedish papers are pretty solid, but most of you cannot read Swedish and they often have translation-blocking formatting, same for Denmark, but Norway is shite, sooo sooo much gossip (Norwegians LOOOVE internal scandals and also anything that paints them in skiing as victims of the outside world (which is insane because they utterly dominate mens and womens nordic skiing to cray levels, only Sweden gives them a run, and that's not often, now (we used to be superb beyond where we are now, and also were great in alpine (downhill) too

So he claimed he had 14 others on International duty and only watched 20 minutes of CHO, what a fucking doyle this bloke is.

He should of been watching no matter what. Gareth Southgate gave this kid nearly as many minutes as Sarri has all season that has how bad it's become. There is only this fucking homeless tramp who can't trust him.

One of the worlds best potential talents is getting shackled by a manager way out of his depth with a reputation for not trying to utilise young lads.

Fuck Sarri the tosser.
