Beschleunigung/Explosivität/Antritt. Buchstäblich der Geschwindigkeitsgewinn auf den ersten Metern.

don't Beschleunigung and Antritt both mean acceleration?
or is there a difference?
Yes it does. I thought that the words burst and acceleration together in a context would mean something more specific. Thanks guys for helping me out

the most common usage in English where you would use them both would be

He showed a great burst of acceleration

Even though I'm still not convinced he's ready fitness wise, any sort of long term injury will have its mental effects, especially one as painful as an ACL tear.

Getting back to match fitness/sharpness is one thing, but getting back 'mentally' is a whole other thing.

I would say that in this context they mean the same but in general beschleunigung is the more technical term you can also use for cars etc. and Antritt is usually only for people/animals that can run.

so

equation for acceleration

a = Δv / Δt where a is Beschleunigung, Δv is the change in velocity, and Δt is the amount of time it took for that change to occur.

versus

bish, you better have great Antritt, cuz I am giving yer ass a 5 second head start, then I am running you down and sinking a bovver boot up yer arse
