This is something i never could understand about Chelsea scouting in Brazil.

Example: Kennedy played few games in the professional and was not impressive. Nobody was talking about him.

Why to sign him?

Richarlison was playing well in the brazilian league and south american cup.

Is not some world beater but would be useful for sure.

Another situation: Guilherme Arana(20) is one of the best young LBs in Brazil in the last decade, better than Sandro or Filipe Luis(when they were 20 years old).

Why we not tried to sign him? I think Sevilla payed $14 millions for the player.

Do you really know that we have not tried to sign Arana?

I do agree with you though about the scouting of Kennedy. It was obvious even from his YouTube highlight videos that he wasn’t good enough.

If he is as good as they say we should sign him. They are saying he will be in the Brazil World Cup squad for sure at the rate he’s going so we should to try get a deal done for the summer in January if possible, probably be our best bet. No coincidence Barca are after him either.

I would bench anybody in Brazil midfield, including Coutinho to play him.

One of the most important things for a team in the modern football is players like Kante and Arthur that can pass the lines fast without losing the ball in dangerous areas.

You see teams like Barca, Madrid, City, PSG, Bayern, they all have many of those players.

We could play 4-3-3 with Kante-DM-Arthur.

As if we are 'keeping an eye' on any player who is remotely promising with his feet. 😂

Far too much common sense I'm afraid.Theres a clause in the Blues AGM written in invisible ink declaring not to sign creative players.

He will probably go to the Premiere League for two reasons:

1 - Barcelona signed Coutinho, and since Umititi is injured they had to sign Mina. So they dont have non-europeans places in the moment.

2 - Barcelona's representatives get Arthur posing in a Barca shirt and Gremio president is pissed. Now he will only sell to the catalans for the release clause £44 mi and i dont think they will expend so much in South America. Only if it was a striker.

I'd be really pissed if it were United though... that's a player they already have (Pogba) and one we are in dire need of.

We need to pay up for promising youngster too, because we want to be the "end club." Next sale percentages mean nothing if the players are never resold.

From Gremio's perspective, if they cannot get the full release clause, it might be better to sell him to a smaller/mid (e.g. Atletico, Spurs) club with a 20-30% in a future sale.

Interesting that he has his heart set on Barca move. Hes a good talent but they are more than well stocked in MF: Busquets, Paulinho, Rakitic, Coutinho, Iniesta, Andre Gomes, Carles Alena... can't see it happening anytime soon unless they are to offload at least 2 MF players, although they'd probably sell Rakitic or Gomes for right offer. I'd like to see us go after somebody in this mould, think Arthur is able to control games and is very mobile.

Also on Barca and their MF I think Messi is that good that he could eventually play as a more offensive minded MF player when hes 35, 36, 37 for them with ease because he is that good, wouldn't be surprised, I think he could play to hes 40 and still be an outstanding player - might seem far fetched in some peoples views but don't see why he couldn't because he is capable of amazing assists, key passes etc.

Chelsea have tried to sign Gremio midfielder Arthur this month but the player has his heart set on a move to Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Mundo Deportivo is not reliable imo. Too much propaganda of Barca board and politicians. I trust Sport.es much more.

Everybody who watch Arthur can see that he is not a normal South American signing, he is one of those special South American talents that we have from time to time. Barcelona is trying to seduce the player for months. In my opinion they are just avoiding him to sign with another club while they dont have non-european places.

We should sign him. Arthur-Kante would be just incredible to watch.

If we play 4-2-3-1 with Kante-Arthur as double-DM we would never lose the ball.

Barcelona will face competition to sign long-term target Arthur, according to sources in Spain and Brazil.

The LaLiga leaders are already in talks with Gremio to sign the midfielder, who was pictured wearing a Barcelona shirt last year.

The Nou Camp outfit are the only club who have produced an offer for the 21-year-old, but AS reports that Inter Milan, PSG and Monaco have shown interest in him. Meanwhile, according to UOL, Real Madrid and Chelsea are keen on him too.

Barca are willing to offer €30m for Arthur, while Gremio are looking for a fee closer to €50m.

Looks a tremendous player to me. My big fear is that City will get him. He's perfect for them so I'd gladly settle for him going to Barca instead.

Already agreed to move to Barca. Only for like 35M too. They always seem to pull great deals out of the bag.
