The hysteria from the game is gone, I am feeling a bit better but then I am realizing we are facing Spurs next week and yet again with even less players than before today's game :(

Rüdiger has pleasantly surprised him. I knew he was quite a character but always saw his defensive and ball playing ability as pretty limited. But it was all fine. he should have got a penalty too and his tackles and passes were spot on. He will be a vital player for us this season.

This is what I'm happiest about. I love Antonio, but what I saw in the first half worried me. It seemed as if there was no fight or spirit, the complete opposite of last season.

The second-half performance doesn't excuse how poor we were until half-time, but I'm actually proud and in the end frustrated because we so nearly snatched something. I think I'd have preferred to have seen us get smashed than lose by such narrow margins, but there is a moral victory to be found amongst all of this and I am seriously impressed by Morata. Just think - he was playing against two banks of four, for a team with only 10 - and then 9 - men on the pitch, missing two of their best attacking players in Pedro and Eden. Imagine how good he'll be when fully fit and with a half-decent line-up alongside him?

Usually after a defeat I'm fucking gutted, but the way we rallied says a lot about the manager and about this team. I'm proud despite the defeat, I remember a similar occasion when we lost 4-2 to Man City under Ancelotti in the Double season. We went down to 9 in that game also, but from 4-1 down, in the last ten minutes we dominated them. Got it back to 4-2 and then nearly scored a third as well. Today was a similar display of character and things will only improve when we bring in some reinforcements, when our two best players from last season (IMO) are back in the side, and with some more reinforcements.

The positives:

Let's focus on the plus points and move on to next weekend.

Exactly.

Quite rightly, it does not excuse the first half performance. However, I am willing to give the lads the benefit of the doubt and say our defence was rattled with the loss of Chaill. I know he has his faults, but he is one of the most vocal on the pitch and that sense of organisation was lost a bit.

Conte fixed it at half time though. The only way that he could fix it is if the players did exactly what they were told and believed in the manager and that's what they did, so I'm happy.

Yes, let's focus on the positives!

Think we'll be forced to play Luiz in midfield next week. You know he'll be hyped up due to the opponent and because he'll know he's got huge responsibility in that position.

If that happens, it'll be a mega test for Rüdiger and Cristensen.

Hopefully it will be 1 of those games , that everybody writes us off and we rip spurs a new 1 . Christensen is good to go...At least quite afew people on here have got there wish with no Cahill+Fab , sometimes not only in life but in football watch what you WISH for!KTBFFH

The last 30 minutes of the game really had us on the edge, didn't it? The attitude in particular of the likes of Luiz, Azpi and the new guys like Morata, Christensen and Rudiger was so brilliant to see! They just didn't wanna give up. Absolutely loved the way Azpi rushed the ball to the halfway line after the second goal. I feel that if we can bring in 3-4 quality players, we'll have a memorable season, it's time for the our incompetent board to fucking wake up!

I'm feeling more relieved after that second half.

Now there's hope because we got a good striker....and that's it. Board do your job and get another backup!

I'm relieved because we got some good defenders...and that's it. Board do your job and get wing backs!

I''m relieved because Kante is still boss....and that's it. Board do your job and get more midfielders!

We need to work on defending against crosses

thats what did us in the first half and they kept letting in those crosses in the 2nd half, no excuses from us, we should have dealt with them much better, Vokes nearly got an hattrick today for fucks sake

Spurs will take note from today because of our innability to deal with Burnley´s crosses, Spurs have great crossers and headers of the ball, we will need to adress that immediately, remember last season´s loss at White Hart Lane?. Cheers
