That was obvious they would offer him a new contract. He still could reject that and join us instead. What is the panic? It is up to him really.

Nailed it.

Leicester offering Vardy a new contract directly when there was an offer for him, MAY mean that there is SOME development from us for Kante.

I am willing to believe Matt Law when he said we have entered negotiations for him. I think we may have not clinched a deal, but may be close and the player could be thinking on whether to or to not join.

They've felt obligated to offer him a new big deal, which, according to reports is 100k. IF Chelsea can go higher and convince him on our new era, he'd probably join. According to Matt Law he is more keen on that, BUT we do not know how true this is.
Thing is, they did the same with Vardy, so they are doing it with Kante. The deal was there, but Vardy had always said he wants to stay at Leicester. Question is what does Kante want? If he wants to stay and accepts the deal, fair play, but it would be amazing if we manage to offer him a better contract.
