To be honest I haven't been convinced with his performances this season atall, the fact he's our greatest ever player and Cahill has been worse has took the heat of his displays, somewhat.

I can understand the argument for keeping him as a squad player, but not sure he wants to see out his career playing once a month like Giggs.

His career is coming to an end, obviously, but his importance to Chelsea has not been diminished to such an extent that he should go now. Last season Terry played every minute of every Premier League match – only the second player to do so in a title-winning side – and performed so well that he was named in the Professional Footballers’ Association’s team of the year by his peers.This season has been extremely difficult but, indisputably, Terry still merits a place in Chelsea’s first-choice starting XI when everyone is fit. He is in better form, and is more influential, than Gary Cahill and the natural selection would be to pair him alongside Kurt Zouma.Evidently, though, Chelsea want to clear the decks, make a fresh start, for Conte. The Italian does not want to be the manager who ends Terry’s career at the club so it is better that it happens when there is no head coach in place apart from the much-loved caretaker Guus Hiddink, who will also be the subject of tributes at Friday’s awards night. And it is not Hiddink’s decision – as he has deftly made clear.

Maybe Conte has a couple of defensive signings up his sleeve – Leonardo Bonucci, another Juve defender, is his main target but will be incredibly difficult to sign, while Chelsea remain interested in Everton’s John Stones – but even then there is a place in the squad for Terry, who has made no secret that one day he wants to move into coaching – and even tried to have it written into a previous contract at the club. Chelsea have been here before with the departure, in particular, of Frank Lampard, but Terry represents something more. He was the cover of the February edition of the Chelsea fanzine cfcuk with the headline “John Terry – the man who is the heartbeat of Chelsea”, and although his relationship with the supporters and the club is fraught, he has been a touchstone over two decades and remains the last academy product to establish himself in the first team.Terry is a one-club man although it has to be remembered that he let it be known he would leave in 2009 – when Manchester City came calling – unless he got a bumper new contract. Loyalty had its price: he earns £150,000 a year and cannot expect to maintain that salary unless he goes to the Middle East or China.Some among the Chelsea hierarchy have not forgotten this and also believe that his influence at the club can be too great at times. It makes the decision to let him go look personal.Chelsea are not alone in struggling to handle the departure or the diminution in their importance of club legends. In recent history Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher departed Liverpool in not wholly satisfactory manners. There is a myth that European clubs appear to deal with these kind of things better – even Paolo Maldini was met with a critical banner on his AC Milan farewell, aged 40, with 900-plus appearances, in 2009.“It’s not going to be a fairy-tale ending,” Terry said when revealing he expected to leave Chelsea.

That was in January after an FA Cup tie in Milton Keynes, with Terry standing in a hotel foyer adjoining StadumMK. That was an incongruous place as well.Terry has had a brilliant, glorious career and will go down as one of the best defenders the Premier League has ever seen, one of England’s best – his international career also ended messily, of course, and maybe there is a theme for a player who often was mired in controversy – but it is coming to a very curious conclusion. By whatever measure, it makes very little sense.

Will the walkout change anything? In all likelihood, no. Should we do it? Absolutely!

If it accomplishes nothing other than turning the heads of the Chelsea board and reminding them that there are Chelsea fans who care more about this club than they ever will and whose views and opinions matter and make a difference.

It's not about letting Terry go, it's about the cowardly and disrespectful manner in which it is being done. If the club wants to let a legend go, at the very least they should be announcing it a few months in advance and preparing a proper send off for him so the fans can say their goodbyes and so he can leave with dignity.

This walkout will not change anything regarding the Terry contract situation but it will a step in the right direction of saying: "Hey! This club is not a Russian billionaire's plaything. This club stems from its fans that have been here long before and will be long after every single player, manager, board member and owner!"

Actually the telegraph is reporting that the club will give him the stadium for free.

" Hiring Stamford Bridge for a game usually costs £22,000, but Chelsea  have agreed to give Terry the club’s stadium for free as part of a  series of gestures that will be made to the 35-year-old. "

It REALLY isn't about 22K which for JT or the club is nothing. The fact that the legend who has led this club to almost ALL of its trophies in history, the player who personifies this club arguably more than any other man in blue ever did, one of the last remaining ties from within the club to the fan base, is having to rent out the bridge to throw himself a farewell match is beyond fucking disgraceful.

On the radio they said be doing a stand up at 26.cheaper protest lol.cant see many walking out last game and sticking to it.
