This bullshit over and over again.

We are in 2017...since 2004 (thats 13 years) this club adopted this formula: managers usually don't have the final word in transfer business, and since then this club got as much Premier League and European trophies as Manchester United. Real Madrid managed to build a squad good enough to win 3 UCL in 4 years with the same model, and its the same in Barcelona: "the board" is the one making the decisions about who is coming and who is going, instead of the managers.

So, after 13 years using a a model, the club will change a winning formula to appease Conte? No way! Eventually he will leave the club, another manager will come, and as soon as this new manager win a big trophy, people won't mind about the past. Mourinho is the perfect case. When he was sacked people were mad. Months later Conte was the new hero in the town, but guess what, he is only the current manager because Mourinho was sacked.

This is a very good article. If Conte is trying to get full control of transfers, he is starting a losing battle.

it is difficult not to agree with you. you never change a winning team applies here. they will never change what won them the ucl and uel

Conte obviously looks forward to a team with the Juventus standard.
Juve minus their less than sparkling performance in the final had a fantastic champions league.
The way we played last year, we can do a little better than City but that's about it.

I wonder if theres owt to the Roman stopping Bonnucci deal? Will obviously go for Alves too surely?

If its to do with the strict 1 year contract for over 30s and not many players in that class wanting just a 1 year one.

You woulda thunk that any manager knowing the rep we have had with managers woulda gone thru his contract with a fine tooth comb. Specially concerning his powers of control of team both incoming and outgoing. Conte doesnt strike me as a stupid lad and had his people check them back and forth

Theres always just a little bit of truth to al the media shite so lets hope theres not TOO much.

I smell a lot of bullshit and a lot of (football) people afraid of Conte staying at Chelsea for many years. Chelsea is not Brentford, the board has a clear plan, if no deal has been announced so far does not mean the club is not actively working on future targets.

Sick of trash media trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. They're still in denial after last season when their darlings United and Liverpool did not even put up a fight and the highly anticipated United v City battle for the title was a lost cause from day one.

Chelsea are not prepared to give Antonio Conte greater control over their recruitment policy, amid suggestions the manager is growing frustrated with a lack of summer signings. (Guardian)

Now the papers are saying that Conte can only buy players with money generated from player sales.

To me, it feels as if the hate bregade (media) are trying to unsettle us as much as possible once again before the new campaign. They literally take the piss.

Well that is what Mourinho had to do.

I think Conte will leave because our board are a joke.

We will just fall of from here because they are incompetent and won't have a great manager like Conte in a while.

If we lose Conte. We have fucked up big time. i can't see us getting somebody of his calibre again until Roman leaves Chelsea.

It's going to happen because we never learn. We continue to do the same mistakes over and over again.

This indeed was the last hurrah.

Yes but our board pre 2012 was much much better. Current barca board is piss, their fans absolutely hate it. Only reason they are still doing well is because of MSN and even that is slowly declining.

Real board was also clueless for a long time. Ancelotti connected few dots, but Zidane made the full difference because he is one of rare people Perez listens to. Pep Barca was also influenced by Guardiola.

What is key to success is board and manager working together. Manager cant just have free hands and order to buy whoever he wants, but the board cant give manager just about any player they decide either. Conclussion must come from both sides.

At current rate, we will be winning here and there, but what we need is consistency. Stability. I think Conte can give it to us if he stays next 3 years I think.

I would not oppose to board making decisions, but this board is far from perfect. Signing Eden, Azpi, Kante,...doesnt give the excuse for several "flops" we had with Falcao, Pato, Baba, Salah, Cuadrado, Djilobodji, Hector,...list goes on, not to mention number of players that we wanted and missed.

Ugh. These rumours are absolute bullshit. It's a rehash from the Inter story, resurfaced by that obsessed Mourinho lover boy Duncan Castles. Why in the world would you believe him?

I'm pretty sure we have signings lined up and that the main reason they haven't been announced is simply due to the Nike deal.

They're really trying to force this power hungry Conte narrative which I think is rubbish. Conte knew what sort of club he was signing for, he knows he can't be making Sir Alex Ferguson style demands just yet, he's only been here for a season. No doubt people will try to ignorantly blame either party (Conte or the board) to suit their agendas.

What you said doesn't make much sense for one simple reason: I pointed Real and Barcelona not to say their model is the "key to success", but to point that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS KEY TO SUCCESS.

Since the 1st day I joined this forum I've been reading the same thing over and over. Its a very simplistic way to look at football. Back in the day the word used was stability. It was something like this:

*Key to success is stability.

*In order to achieve stability you can't fire managers, even if the results are bad. When you let manager work and let him build the squad he wants to he eventually will get the right results, even if it takes 3 or 4 years. Well, SAF did that with United, didn't him?

When I joined Ancelotti was the manager. After the double everyone here wanted him to create a "dynasty"....and even during AVB tenure many people were backing him using the "stability" argument. Well, nowadays people are more open minded to sacking managers, but now they created another "key to success": managers must get full control of transfer market, and when things are not working, people will come up with this excuse: Its the board fault, because they didn't get the players the manager wanted. Just look back when Conte's team was getting smashed by Liverpool and Arsenal, people were saying things like: "its board fault because they didn't get Koulibaly and Naingolan, instead we got Luiz and Alonso"....well, Luiz was one of the best players in the league, and Alonso one of the top signings of the season.

I'm sure the board listens to managers, but they won't buy players that won't fit the club's policy. For example, I'm sure Conte is willing to pay 50m or even more for Bonucci, but its pretty clear Bonucci is not the  kind of player the club buy for that price.

To other side when Conte send Costa a sms saying he is not wanted anymore, he is putting the club in a weak position in transfer market. I don't even know how people here can see that as an ultra cool move from Conte, as we were in some Netflix series: "oh, Conte is badass", "Conte savaged there", "uuu, Costa deserved".  That was actually a dumb move, specially when Costa is basically our only CF (the other one was Conte's 3rd option to play during all the season), and our main target has a 100m asking price. For me the Costa incident is just another good reason why he can't have more control in transfer market and should world with the players that are available. Its the managers job to make the squad work, thats why they receive huge paychecks, not to play some kind of FIFA or PES career mode in real life. Conte even managed to turn Moses into a useful player. He should concentrate more on that instead of asking for more control. This is a club that sacked a manager that was considered a living god by most of fans, I hope Conte is not stupid enough to try to start a losing war.

yes i agree with you but who do you blame for not getting the players. You can't blame anyone else  than the board. We have a good manager in Conte. He is very smart too. If you ask for something as a manager and you get something else you have to try and manage it. Know when you do that and become a success you would know have the bargaining power to ask for what ever he wants. I dont thinks conte is in for the money, i think he is a manager because he likes the game. It is the board i would blame if he still doesn't get what he wants for the second time and walks away.

Someone who is able to say he will walk away even when being offered a 9m pound a year contract is someone you don't play around with.

btw conte sending the sms is not a bad move. like i said the guy has chelsea eating from the palm of his hands cause unlike mour who got what he wanted in his first season (essien, drogba, carvalho & co. Players who if were in their prime now, can easily replace anyone today). he used player who to be honest would not have fit into mourinho first team in his first season(alonso, moses, cahill, matic, costa). If he is not giving what he wants i would be happy for him to leave so he can keep his 100% title record and move on but hope he stays.

He deserves to asking when shocking everyone last season don't think he will like that pressure again. There is always a time to change so if we have to change our system lets do so with conte. Like Man u who were not know for a spending club are now or like asernal who were an academy team now chasing mbappe even barca now plan to be spending i excess of 60m+. Lets hope we our not left behind.

Conte is being smart shaking up the board cause i would rather walk away than sit down and get sacked 3months into the season
