Rumour has it we are looking at a double swoop for him and Naingolan.

Not a big source but I ain't creating this thread purely because of the rumour, what I want to ask to the avid viewersof Italian football is how good is he? And would he be good enough to be our main defender next season?

Apparently Greek side Olympiakos, his former club, still owns 50% of his footballing rights until September this year. So if he is to be sold this summer, Roma will only get half the money. This is why they are now trying to renew his contract and wait for that clause in his contract to expire in September. Can't see him move anywhere this summer unless Roma do something and buy the rest of his rights.

Manolas is a joke.
Propped up by Greek media because he used to play for state sponsored team Olympiakos Piraeus.
Against Roma the silly tv speaker kept saying "look how Manolas has nailed Ronaldo" but Roma lost 2-0.
In one instance Ronaldo has the ball and Manolas is infront of him but 1-2 meters away. So Ronaldo tries the pass to the right winger.
But the right winger he was expecting was missing and the ball goes to a Romano player. But the speaker goes on "great, Manolas has stolen Ronaldo's identity tonight". What a load ...
We will be losing 7-0 to L'pool with him and become bald men before our time.

Always believe it more when I see it from skysports. Good to see that the club are looking to get business done early

Also contrary to the opinion from @cosmicway I have mostly seen excellent reviews about him.

A pacey CB is what we could do with tbh. Very young too. Hope we can secure him.

Agree, I do not think he is Chelsea quality either. Feeling is that Greeks tend to overhype him just like Romanians do with Chiriches. Although the bullshit our journalists write is taken to a new level. Or I must say used to be taken to a new level when we was playing for Spurs. At that time, Romanian outlets was constantly linking him to Chelsea, although English papers was quiet and you couldn't hear a thing about that "supposed" transfer. Imagine as a Chelsea fan to have to read every week that "Chelsea is desperate to land Chiriches", "Mourinho has found Terry's heir" and lots of other bullshit. When the truth is that Chiriches is Championship level and nowadays can't kick a ball for Napoli. But he used to play for media darlings Steaua Bucharest and only got to play for Tottenham because of a shady business between his agent that is now in prison, Ioan Becali and Tottenham's Director of Football, Franco Baldini, another shady character in world football.

Kostas Manolas targeted after Kalidou Koulibaly rejection

Quote

Chelsea FC have reportedly already been dealt a blow in the transfer market after seeing their approach for Kalidou Koulibaly rebuffed. Kostas Manolas is next.As we head into the summer transfer window, transfer rumours regarding Chelsea FC are gaining in strength. The latest report claims that the Blues have had a bid for Kalidou Koulibaly rejected, leading them to target Kostas Manolas.According to Sky Italia, Antonio Conte has been dealt a blow with regard to his recruitment after Napoli ruled out a move for Koulibaly. As a result, the club have turned their attention to AS Roma’s Manolas.

Antonio Conte had requested club bosses move for Senegal international Koulibaly, only to be told the deal couldn’t happen…a swoop for Manolas is now on the agenda as Conte seeks to solidify Chelsea’s backline ahead of the new season. – via the Express
Chelsea need to strengthen all over the field ahead of Antonio Conte’s maiden season in charge, but the defence requires particular attention. John Terry has just signed a one-year contract extension, but it has been accepted that he won’t be taking the field on a regular basis. Gary Cahill, meanwhile, is past his peak and Kurt Zouma will be injured for the start of the campaign.Koulibaly has made quite an impression in the Serie A. He made 32 starts for Napoli this season as he helped the club to second position. Furthermore, only the champions had a meaner defence.Unfortunately, Napoli seem intent on keeping their star defender as they look to establish themselves in the Champions League next year.Manolas has been linked with the Blues since Conte’s arrival was announced. The Roma player has been building an impressive reputation and, at the age of 24, he is still thought to be far from his potential.

Even though Conte will currently have his plate full with Italy’s EURO 2016 preparations, he will certainly be communicating with Blues officials regarding transfers. Michael Emenalo appears to have held onto his job despite failing to bring in sufficient talent over the last year and he will be desperate to secure some decent players this time around.
