What you say about the money is 100% true, which is why it's even more frustrating that we're reportedly stalling with every target we're after. I'm sure most of it is made up bullshit from journo's, but to see repeated bids for Nainggolan rejected is annoying when we know we have the money to pay up.

Why isn't Koulibaly already a Chelsea player? He's not on international duty and plays for a club much smaller than Chelsea. A big bag of cash should have been on Napoli's front lawn weeks ago and Koulibaly should be in Chelsea blue. Wish we'd just pay up and be done with things like we did a couple of summers ago.

The transfer window doesn't hot up until mid July, 2004 we only had Paulo done at this moment out of the summer signings, and the manager not being here does complicate things.

Also you and lots others complain about the "lowballing", I'm sorry but the just pay what you want them doesn't wash? City did that In the early Shiekh tenure and look at the crap they acquired for over inflated prices, over £100m combined for Adebayor, Barry, Johnson, Milner, Bridge and Lescott, if the club don't bother negotiating and pays Roma, Napoli and Leicester 'what they want' we set a dangerous precedent and will get milked like cows for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, well imagine how hard it would be without CL football for 2 or more years in a row and worrying about funding a new stadium. That's what we're looking at if we don't kick into gear soon and start signing top players.

Arsenal had CL football every season and struggled in the market.

With pretty much wank sponsorship deals to be fair. Their Nike deal was worth £13m per season, while the Fly Emirates one was/is £15m. About four times less than what Chelsea will be getting with Nike and Yokohama (£100m per season both). Add the new TV deal to that and CL football money will be completely irrelevant.

Had Arsenal had United-esque sponsorship deals back when they were still paying for the new stadium, they'd have had no problems signing top players.

Would be shocking, frankly, if we allow him to go anywhere other than Chelsea if there's any chance he's available. We have his coach and are in desperate need of a CB.

Add this to the list as well

If he is to leave, Chelsea simply must be the destination.

City are going strong and will probably blow 300 million this window...

I don't see it's ever matching City's spending again...

Stones is way too overpriced at £50 million - he didn't even get in a shit England team ???

Bonucci is decent - but again - £50 million - way too much for our board...

Sounds like a Chelsea fuck'up doesnt it? I can see it happening. Juve saying they will sell for €50 but we somehow trying to lowball them all summer until City feel they have laughed enough at us and chuck €50 on the table over the night.

Fecking hell just call Marotta, buy him a dinner, bring a Chateau Margaux 2009 Balthazar as a gift and offer them the money they want. Dealianos Donelito!

Yeah this is the problem - sadly enough.

We are looking for "world class" players in the £25-£35 region when the whole world knows that "world class" nowdays cost £50+.

LMAO good thing is we already own Djilobodji since he would probably cost £25-£35 in todays market. Perfect for us.. Well as i said, good for us we already bought him.

I'm glad you are not a member of the board, we would get milked like cows every single time.

Give it a year we'd have Saints quoting us £60m for Ward Prouse if we just "payed teams what they want", sets a dangerous precedent.

Back in the day we paid whatever it took to get our hands on the likes of Drogba. How did that turn out?! Because of inflation and stuff like that it's not higher these days, IMO. Can we bring in someone with an actual degree in econmics?! [emoji2]

How much did we pay for this new striker again? They already took us to the cleaners, clubs know, if Chelsea want one of their players, they will pay eventually. Look at the loan army, how many clubs are out there who pay more money than Chelsea? Look at the talents, Loftus-Cheek is on about 60k a week, Premier-League regular Alli on about 25k.

Point is, Chelsea still pay, the question is, should it be in different areas? The club seems to much rather have a new striker than an expensive defender. Or they are still divided which one they should buy.

Chelsea are still a football club, over the last years the net spend has been kept low. I'd say it's time to acquire some serious talent, but we'll have to wait and see.

Jesus Christ, The Sun is such an insult to every normally functioning brain. Wonder what kind of human being you must be to pay money for that piece of crap.

This morning in The Sun: "Bonucci will snub City for a reunion with Conte at Chelsea."

Tonight in The Sun: "Bonucci will not be joining Antonio Conte at Chelsea, his agent is in England to negociate a deal with Man City."

Throw enough mud eventually something will stick, it may have worked with Didi, Ricky especially but we also overspent on average players like SWP, Mikel and Bosingwa (£16m for a full back in 2008 was obscene).

Sure, but most of them played their part in the success story. We all have been spoiled, difficult to adapt to life without the golden spoon...

Breath of fresh air is most times not the worst idea, imo. To be fair, one new player has already been bought, so we could be back...
