Sarri would be great, but I have doubts going all attacking football all of a sudden. We played defensive yes, and thats one way. Going all out attack is the other way which I dont like either. We need a balance, something between.

Pep is best in attacking football and you cant beat Pep if you go straight attack on him. Thats one big problem if we are going to do that.

Pep dream world would be for every opponent to attack because he is the best at it and ultimately he would win against anyone. Teams that sit deep or play balanced efficient football kill him and he hates that. We shouldnt become all out attacking team because we will always be second best at that. We need to find balance because thats where Pep is weak, he doesnt have plan B.

Liverpool are the worst defensive team in the top 6 and were the only ones to beat City this season out of all of us, weren't they? They just blitzed them with all out attack and weren't scared shitless of them like we were.

Klopp attacked vs him and beat him. The City and Liverpool games will probably be pretty brutal next season but in the long run were be fine.

Also regarding his defense his consession figures in serie a are 32, 39 and 29 making the overall tally 100 in 114, not Simeone or 00's Jose numbers but not disastrous.

"Maurizio Sarri is about to become the Chelsea manager and the announcement could come in the next few hours"

"that will tie the former Napoli coach to the Blues for the next four years, guaranteeing him a contract of 6 million euros net per season. The acceleration was imposed directly by Roman Abramovich, who gave a mandate to his right arm, the powerful Marina Granovskaia, to close between today and, maximum, tomorrow."

"Sarri and Chelsea are really just a step away. In fact only the officiality is missing"

Niinii says 2 year deal.  Now, I know he's a Youtuber and why trust him over any other source.  But, he was right about Chelsea waiting it out for Sarri to get the sack from Napoli.  It's not exactly what's happening, but he was closer to the mark that any of the other reports.

Didnt he suggest that Chelsea did that to avoid paying the release clause? Looks like we still need to pay it since Sarri is only on garden leave. And he posted that video several hours after >that rumour< were all over twitter hours before.
I just need to look att NiiNii for 2 seconds before my bullshit alarm goes off. As someone here said 2-3 days ago "A kid in his mommas basement claiming to have exclusive news" or something like that :D

We'll see what happens.  Whether we pay the full clause or not.  A 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd makes sense.  With this kind of a change, 2 years to see what kind of progress before committing to a 3rd year.

So, whether he was 100% correct about the clause, maybe not.  But, he was the only one suggesting that Napoli would have a replacement in first and that the door would be open for us to come in.  It's not like we've just triggered his clause a la PSG with Neymar and Arsenal's 40,000,001 Suarez bid.

Not defending anyone but most of the Twitter reports about 2 year contract. Sport Mediaset are the first to report differently. Before taking a hit on somebody let’s see first what’s going to happen tomorrow.

It took Klopp a while to achieve this and even this season they were shit defensively against some smaller sides which cost them potential title run.

Do you want all out attacking football and during season destroy some teams, but also lose to Burnleys and Palaces often?

Do you think Chelsea will tolerate two seasons with average results, like Klopp had before this season? (and even now they finished 4th, which isnt great).

Sarri tried to go attack with Napoli too (much more drilled side than Chelsea will be next season) and lost to City.

All Im saying we shouldnt play allout attack game just because its fancy and popular, because Pep will beat us in his game. We have to develop from our strenghts, not adopt rivals style.

Dont get me wrong, I would love Sarri here and Im sure we will play fantastic football on the eye (with few new players and given that current squad puts faith and adopts to new manager), but dont be surprised if we get spanked by top sides who play offensive football for longer time with more drill, or small sides who will take our approach by the balls and punish the defence (lets be honest, Klopp, Pep, Sarri have wonderful attack and actions, but their defenses are plain and simple garbage more often than not).

Only reason I have faith in Sarri is because majority of our players went through defensive drills by Mou and Conte and they know how to defend, Pep and Klopp players never had that chance.

What I mean, people seem to love Pep football, but his defence is pure shit. I dont want that at Chelsea. We always had strong defence, but efficient attack.

If Sarri can implement that, (like Ancelotti did in 2009/10) thats awesome, but honestly if all we do is trade defensive stability for attacking brilliance, we wont see any trophy for a long time. Fuck that.

I love idea of a more attacking chelsea, but not at the expense of what made us strong club. I loved when we played like shit, everyone laughed at us, but I cheered for our defense to hold on and then we scored and I was like yeah, take the L. Its what made Chelsea powerful. They were rolling over us, we let them attack, they made 100 shots and then bang, we hit them on counter. Everyone said we will lose, but we never gave up.

I want that Chelsea, packed in new era. Fuck Pep and Klopp and their styles. I admit I admire good football from opposing side, but Chelsea wouldnt be Chelsea if it wasnt defensively balanced and deadly efficient. Maybe iz sounds weird, but thats our dna of roman era, reason I supported the club. We defy odds, we dont give shit about others, play our game and win. Be it by one shot-one goal and make everyone in the world mad.

Playing super attacking football would just look too fancy. I want strong characters and never give up mentality back. Atletico is example to an extent, they just dont have the funds we had, but pretty much same mentality and phylosophy.

EVERYONE in football screams for revolutions and attacking football. Imagine Chelsea back at their top dog game with pragmatic approach. Not giving shit about what world wants and thinks. We just played our way with plan to win. And piss off the rest of the world. Thats what we did in Didi, Lamps era.

Initially I say FUCK YEH. But we want to progress to a super power eventually. To he CL and EPL contenders year in year out. We need to move away from the constant overly defensive performances (I'm a huge fan of them at the right times) I'd like to play balanced. Well, having the reputation for a strong defence is always great, especially whenyou are a goal up!

Although I see where you're coming from, I'm not sure I agree with most of the things you say.

You can't sit back against a Pep team. They'll just make combinations in front of you and somehow find a way against parked buses to score. Even in our title winning season, we were very lucky to come out with a win at the Etihad. Had KdB not missed that sitter from 2 yards, it would have been 2-0 and the game would have been much different. Only Burnley somehow managed to do well by parking against City. When Jose tried it, he got beaten all hands up. It was until the second half when Pogba started making runs and they started attacking City, and that's how they beat them. Only Liverpool struggle against parked buses mostly cause they don't have a target man at all in the squad and no plan B. Their midfield isn't as good as City's to pick out pin point passes in packed boxes and they rely on their front 3 going behind the defences too much.

Also, as good as Sarri made Napoli, it's still way off the quality in that City team, yet they gave them a pretty good challenge in both legs. And I don't believe Pep's defence is "garbage" or "shit" at all. It's well in place now and Ederson has been massive for them. This season just tells you how much Stones and Bravo individually cost City last season.

I honestly don't care about attack or defence or keeping it balanced. But I do think that since the quality of the PL has improved massively, especially in the top 6, you can't defend your way out of every big game (like Mourinho's United) and expect yourselves to win the league.

We're all feeling excited, yet nervous. Confident, yet unsettled about this appointment. Mostly cause we've never seen our club play attacking football the way Sarri's teams do. It's just how humans are wired, we resist change, especially the drastic ones.

However, now that the manager is here, we will back him. Let's hope he brings the kind of football he made Napoli play, here as well. We know he doesn't care about Europa so our focus is going to be on the league again. If we're messing that up, we always have Europa to fall back to, for UCL qualification like United.

11 million euros?

Men that's a lot, but yet we penny pinch on targets.....

It's a lot for a guy who whined for 2/3 of the season and had zero plan B for most it too. Makes you wonder why some coaches are paid so much money.

And got 91 points. That’s a lot for someone with no plan B.

The screams for attacking football are more common these days because that's what the modern game demands. The 00's was the era of the solid shape first everything else second but these days high pressing and being on the front foot wins out the most.
