Yeah, absolutely shocking.

The club have had all summer to secure new wing-backs to add competition and cover for Moses and Alonso but so far they've got fuck all to show for it. Last week they finally understood Alex Sandro doesn't want to join and now with less than 48 hours remaining they find out their number one target for RWB doesn't even want to play that position.

Time to go full panic mode. Who's the Papy Djilobodji alternative for right wing-back?

Yes I would agree that surely through agents or intermediaries we would have been aware of his preference and ambition to play in centre midfield so seems baffling that we've continued to pursue the move, more than likely ahead of other targets that are no longer viable.

If the reasons are true though, would you be happy us buying him to play centre midfield?

Of course not, but surely the club could've figured it out earlier in the window that he doesn't actually want to continue playing as wing-back? There's been some talk about it all summer in the media, but the club have stubbornly believed they can convince him to change his mind and now it's backfired massively.

Really embarrassing for the club to be in this position.

So we've spent 3 weeks trying to sign him for a position he didn't wanna play? Which happens to be the reason he wants to leave in the first place. We then agree to sign him and THEN realize he didn't wanna play at RWB?

Time to go raid Southampton...

Would be such a let down to go from Ox who probably could've blossomed into a top player and an upgrade on Moses to Cedric who I don't even think would displace Moses. But that seems the likeliest outcome now.

The club will also look like mugs now for bidding for Ox and agreeing terms with Arsenal without even getting the OK from the player himself. Almost amateur stuff there. Why wouldn't we find out before bidding?

Probably tapping-up issue.

Guy doesn't wanna play wing back and wants a central role. Respect him for making the call, we definitely would have played him at wing back. Sucks to miss out on him but can't blame him if he doesn't want the particular role.

scramble mode time.

Meh. A buying club has to communicate with a player in some capacity. Even speaking with his agent or an intermediary to find out if he'd be willing to move.

Why do you assume that we wouldn't have done that? It was known beforehand, yet the club tried. There has to be a plan B imo

I'm just wondering. Did we really waste time trying to persuade Arsenal to sell without contacting people close to him to see if he was interested in a move? I thought that was the first thing in any transfer.

So we know before making our move that he doesn't want to play RWB and then bid anyways? That's even worse!

There were reports about it, but I guess the club thoguht they'd be able to convince him. Doesn't seem that way. Anyway, time to move on to other targets.
