Charlie Austin

Why don't we get him as Drogba replacement? This season he has been in the shadow of Harry Kane, but he proved to be a great striker - scoring 17 goals for last placed QPR this season. In better club, with better midfielders, he could probably score even more. QPR will also probably have to sell him, because he is just too good for playing in Championship. He's tall, strong striker, the type Jose likes and would be perfect for replacing what Drogba brought to us in this departement. He's young, homegrown, will not be too expensive. What's there to lose?

How many strikers like these have actually made the move from a poor team to a top one and succeeded? Very, very few. And there's a reason for that - they normally don't have the team built around them at the upper level, teammates aren't looking for them all the time, there are fewer spaces to operate in, opponents treat you differently. On the face of it Austin has everything to succeed if put in a more favourable environment - but so did Lambert at Liverpool, so did Darren Bent at Spurs, so did Andy Johnson at Everton, so did Roque Santa Cruz at Man City.

Not saying it cannot happen, just that there's no evidence of it happening consistently to take a chance on him.

We don't need him to be world-class, he will a backup and play when Costa is injured, in cup and get some minutes every other week in league.

Maybe Mou has gift of making decent players into top ones, but I dont think we should be looking after the likes austin, valencia, costa, alderweireld etc. We should aim higher than that if we want to get closer to barca rm.

One Pogba/Verratti/Griezmann etc could give us ALOT more than Costa, Austin, valencia, sissoko etc combined.

if remy is leaving then maybe

he has good holdup ability, strong , powerful shooting with both feet, good in the air, homegrown, connection with chelsea.

i think he could prop up costa and falcao well enough.

Chelsea are among a number of clubs weighing up a move for Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, sources have told ESPN FC.

More like he's had an offer from a club (Newcastle) who haven't offered him what he was hoping for so his agent has decided to "leak" some information to ensure they pay up.

18 goals aren't anything to scoff at. He could be a one hit wonder, a limited player like Darren Bent or a consistent scorer. Who knows?

His finishing is pretty tidy but I somehow feel that he's a discount Kane. That's a true English talent imho. But yeah who knows?
