When was your tipping point regarding Torres?

Interesting discussion about it with a friend the other day, we were discussing when we eventually gave up this false hope about Torres and just accepted the fact he turned into a shit footballer? Got me curious about all your tipping points, purely because we had the same old discussion in his thread for years but never really discussed our respective moments which made us truly give up on him.

For me I was pretty early, I wrote off the first 6 month's and tried to convince myself he would be fine with pre season, more creative player's etc etc, he had a few promising games but quickly resorted back to type, the Arsenal 5-3 I started to turn, after the Liverpool Carling Cup match I truly realised this guy was done and even suggested cutting our losses as early as January 2012.

when we bought him and people somehow tried to convince me that he was worth the 50mil that we were paying and that he was a much better player and replacement for DD.

the actual tipping point would have to be 2012-13 season. i remember the exact match. the club world cup final. even before that, i never truly supported him but after that match, i was DONE. even if he had scored a hat-trick in every match after that, nothing would have changed.

When he was linked to us before joining Liverpool.

Watched him for Atleti and Spain, felt he was extremely ordinary and said so. He received a lot of praise for his efforts at Euro 2006, a tournament in which I felt he was mostly poor. For a brief period at Liverpool, his numbers made my point of view look foolish but I maintained that if you actually watched Torres, instead of just counting his goals, the truth would be unavoidable.

I was always one of his biggest critics virtually since arriving and always pointed out the silliness of the excuses that were being made like the "lack of creativity" and "Malouda does not pass to him"

But I think the point where I realized this man will never be remotely good here at Chelsea was probably the red card against Swansea.

That was probably the only time I hated a Chelsea player, the most I've ever been upset at one. I think had I somehow ran into him that week I would probably have assaulted him. I still don't forgive him for costing us the chance to win the World Cup even if it is a completely meaningless friendly tournament.

I never turned on Torres. But there was a time when I realised he'd never cut it at Chelsea, and it was this moment against Norwich:

This miss caused a crack in my phone. I launched it at the sofa in anger only to watch it bounce off and land on the wooden flooring we had at home. Will never forgive Torres for making me do that

I tell you what though. I was proud of the way The Bridge stayed with Torres, kept singing his name, making excuses for him and willing him on to succeed.

I admit that by the end the well of patience had run dry and the frustrations were showing a little, but only a little. For 99% of the time he received great support, but we'll get no credit for it. Torres has spoken of his love for Liverpool fans, and I have no problem with that, perfectly fine that he should and I respect him for it. Contrast their behaviour with ours however. He gave them a great scoring record, for a while any way, and good times so of course they loved him. How would they have been if he had struggled in the way he did here?

Where was that famous Anfield support when Leiva, Johnson, Baloteli, Mingolet, etc needed it? It's easy to support a man when he's doing well but we supported this man while he was being a useless, £100m flop. Oh, and when Nando returns he won't get dog's abuse either. I suppose this just proves that we're not a big club, like Liverpool.

Torres was a terrible buy there's no getting away from it. But in his defence he made his debut against Liverpool and should never have started that game. It can't have been easy for him leaving the scousers for 50 million on Thursday and playing against them a couple of days later. His confidence was shot from day 1 and he never recovered.

It was all worth it for that goal in the Nou Camp, let's be honest.

This. Regardless of some saying it didn't matter. When he was one on one and scored, i nearly lost my voice. That was one of the single best moments of my life and it was thanks to Torres.

The fans always gave him support, so it's annoying how he always takes shots at the club, but that's his problem. I can't say i ever had a "tipping point" i supported him throughout, but man, he was frustrating.

Ramires was actually the one who scored the tie changing goal, and it was Bosingwa that made an interception that prevented us from going out yet it's Torres that gets heralded a hero despite nearly undoing all our hard work twice in the ten minutes he was on, Bosingwa was the hero of the moment for me because his contribution was actually the difference between us going to Munich and not.

If we signed Crouch, gave him the chances and excuses Torres got he would have scored goals some being vital doesn't change the fact he is nowhere near good enough to play for Chelsea.

I understand that, but that goal was amazing. You can't tell me you didn't lose your mind when he scored.
