Bloody hell i know we were skint in the 80's but i don't think even Bates would have agreed to a tour of the Lebanon.

Well you don't exactly "tour" Lebanon. The whole country can be covered by car in a single day And given that in the 80s more than half the country was under Israeli occupation, it would have been a very short "tour"

With good reason too, Asia’s an attractive place to tour, and Japan particularly is good country to ‘paint blue’, given their economic strength and largely untouched population in footballing terms (I don’t really associate Japan with a certain club i.e. United = Korea). Plus given the fact we’re going to have a Japanese shirt sponsor it just makes sense to tour Japan.
