Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing in 44 year-old keeper as a backup to first choice keeper Thibaut Courtois, should Petr Cech leave in the summer.

In the start of the current season, questions were raised as to who would be chosen as the first choice keeper at Chelsea - the legend Petr Cech or the impressing, young talent Thibaut Courtois.

The young Belgian was given the nod, and has settled extremely well to the life in the Barclays Premier League. As a result, Petr Cech who joined Chelsea from French club Rennes in 2004 is seeking first-team football elsewhere, with clubs like Monaco, PSG, Roma and Arsenal all seeking to acquire the 32 year-old Czech’s signature.

With Cech leaving, Jose Mourinho is weighing his options for a replacement. Surprisingly, the 44 year-old Spurs goalkeeper Brad Friedel has been added to a shortlist of possible replacements, joining the likes of John Ruddy, Robert Green and Graig Cordon. Jose Mourinho wants to bring in experienced names, and Friedel certainly fits the credentials having made more than 450 appearances for several Premier League outfits such as Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham.

Brad Friedel’s contract with Tottenham expires by the end of the season, and would be a similar signing to Mark Schwarzer, who was signed on free-transfer in 2013, before leaving for Leicester in the January transfer window.

Hopefully not, I don't want Cech to go :P we've lost Lampard and Cole. I would prefer David de Gea from United if we could grab him, since he's considering leaving and he's the only reason United are in the top 5.

But do you realistically think that De Gea as second keeper could happen/work?

If any goal keeper would move to us I don't see why it wouldn't happen or work? They do their job, the same with any of our players they all came from a club.
