Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce that Christian Purslow is joining the club to run our global commercial activities. Mr Purslow's appointment is effective ‎immediately.

The club has ambitious plans to build the Premier League's most pioneering global commercial programme, partnering with innovative and market-leading organisations from around the world. The club believes Mr Purslow has the vision and the leadership qualities to help us achieve these plans.

‎Chelsea does not expect to announce any other senior appointments in the near future. As announced last week, Chairman Bruce Buck and Director Marina Granovskaia have assumed the executive responsibilities held by our former chief executive.

Replacing Gourlay with an ex-Liverpool managing director....

Pops up on R5 now and again saying where clubs have gone wrong.

Was, and still is as far as I know, a Liverpool season ticket holder, and was part of the Hicks Gillete popular front.

Still hes not replacing Gourlay so hopefully steers clear of the football side of things.

Purslow's role has been made pretty clear in the club statement. He will have zero involvement on football stuff, and going by his track record at Liverpool that's a great thing!

Meh, if he can secure commercial deals that outweight his salary and bonus scheme etc. then why not, Liverpool ticket holder or not, couldn't care just do not understand the appointment unless we are going full retard on sponsorship like United have done in the last few years (5 years+), not a bad thing, guess we'll see over the next few years!

Do not understand.

He sorted their kit sponsor which is all I remember? Interesting move, I thought Ron did a great job in bringing new sponsors in over the last few years.

Shame he fucked up with the Turkish airlines deal, it was obvious he was going after that.

Tbh this is probably going to be a good appointment in the long run. He's being hired purely to get sponsorship money in and get us better deals than we have been getting previously (Turkish Airlines >.<).

He's only a businessman and only getting involved with the business side of the club, so it's more than irrelevant that he's ex-Liverpool. Kinda hope it's not too late and nothing has been signed yet and he's been brought in soon enough to sort our shirt sponsor out for next season, so we don't have to have Turkish Airlines for comparative peanuts compared to our rivals.

You don't really have to be Sherlock Holmes to work it out. There was something comedic like a £3m difference between the new one and the Samsung deal. No progression..

Where are the official numbers? Link please, Mr.Holmes.
