Tbf, I think that has more to do with the fact that people associated James more with the utterly horrendous haircuts than the record!

Seriously speaking, obviously for Petr himself it is a huge deal like any major individual record is for top players. It ensures that his name is always mentioned whenever the record is which could be for a long time because I can't see the record being broken any time soon.

It also probably makes a great case for him to be remembered as the best keeper in the history of the EPL over the likes of Schmeichel and Van Der Sar, especially that he already has the best clean sheet ratio among the "greats". James was mostly an idiot and not even a record like that was going to change that view, while for a world class player like Petr who's always played at the very top level, a record like that can change how "history" remembers him.

Practically for us, it could be a factor in him deciding whether he want to move abroad or to a local team (probably a rival) in the summer. It's also nice for us fans to have a club legend of ours holding the ultimate record for his position. Bragging rights, part of history and all that....

Familiarity, in this instance, breeds content. As I've said in this thread numerous times, it's a psychological thing. Cech has a decade's experience of doing this at the top level for Chelsea, so it's no surprise his inclusion in the side brings about a sense of calmness.

That is a good point. And he really has an impct on our whole team, not only defenders. As a former football player(not pro ofc) you gain confidence and calmness when you know someone like Cech is in goal. Through the time Terry and Cahill have gained this and it is always good when you know Cech is behind you. Hopefully, in the future, Zouma will gain this confidence with Tibo in goal.
