Petr Cech

Couple of decent saves yesterday. The one from vdV was admittedly straight at him but he reacted well as he saw it very late, through a crowd of players. Also, Cahill looked like he was doing his best to impede him! Good save at the end from Bale's free-kick. Any goalkeeper will admit their biggest fear is the ball dipping and bouncing in the six yard box as there is so little time to react. He did the right thing in palming it behind. He also made a good decision to come out when Adebayor went through, coming out so quick made Adebayor take a bigger touch around him, allowing Cahill the chance to get back. Good goalkeeping.

At first I was afraid Petr was about to knock him down which would mean a sending-off. That would be really pointless. So as you said, very good goalkeeping.

Just goes to back up my point that a goalkeeper is only as good as his defence. If we defend as well as we have in the last two games and continue to do so until the end of the season, we'll get another 5-7 clean sheets.

Good point, but I don't like when he sometimes just gives up on shots. For example, in the City game - early on when Nasri hit the bar with that dinked shot kinda thing? He just gave up on it. Then when it rebounded off the bar he had to suddenly rush into action. I guess I'm being picky but he does this rather frequently and it gets on my nerves when it happens

Acording to guardian AVB wanted to get rid of Petr Cech, now I am happy Roman get rid of Boas.

Load of steaming horseshit.

How convenient to claim AVB wanted to do X, Y and Z and then hide behind a supposition that he won't actually speak out because it's part of the contract severence agreement. Well who gave you the info then? Someone from the club? But it's hush-hush territory according to your report itself, remember?

Journalists are the bane of the written word form.

way to jump to premature conclusions based on an article without reliable source. I thought people on this forum knew better.

I do exactly the same. There are shots you know you won't save. A goalkeeper who knows his limitations is better than one who doesn't.

I know I'm being ridiculously pro-Cech because he's my favourite player, but sometimes you just have to accept he won't be able to save certain shots. In fairness, when he fucks up I'm his harshest critic so I'd like to think I'm definitely a good judge of him as a keeper.

Can we talk about his feet that were stuck to the ground on that Benfica goal?

I can't believe if he wanted to replace Cech... :o

Cech is still 1 of the best....

To be fair,he wasn't really sublime under AVB.I remember him cocking up against Wigan and against another few teams before that game. The defense wasn't great either but those goals which we conceded could have been stopped and Cech did confess about this matter. At the moment,he is doing very well, although he did make a stupid error against Benfica,I am sure he will learn from such experiences and make sure he won't commit the same mistakes.
