But it is true.... Is there a meaning to life of all that is in life is full of strife, competition, power .... and religion on the other hand nowhere fils the gap. Lets not review this for now.

Even Mr Darwin could come and say meaning is what we - our kind of apes- aspire for in universe truly devoid of any meaning.

Some say meaning and our automatic search for it an evolutionary byproduct of our enhanced cognitive fuctions. They have a huge evidential base btw.

Now what?

If the age of earth was shrunk to 24 hours, us humans have been here for the last two minutes, yet we are incredibly complex beings both physically and psychologically. So are we here for a deep seated purpose.......or just a fucking virus with shoes ??

I guess we are. But just because we exist, and we exist like most social species, and much of our nature is on being social.,just look at this forum .... Maybe meaning has a social aspect.

Very good point. Do we have an inbuilt need to socialise, that makes social media, forums, religion etc necessary constructs - or are they there playing on peoples insecurities, created by bastards for money and power ? I wish I knew what the fuck I am talking about.

Which is the best god ?

I think two of the philosophical questions I like the most are "do we really have free will?" and "how real is everything we sense - can we really trust our senses to assess reality objectively?"

blimey. I suppose different things to different people ?

Exactly... Some have more economic goals for example, some on the other hand are all about family goals etc... The true beauty (and ugliness) of the world is that every 7 billion of us have their own definition of true happiness (even though some haven't truly found that definition yet).

@The Skipper, @Fulham Broadway, still on the topic about happiness. Transitory or enduring state? Is it possible to achieve sort of a permanent happiness? I don't mean you will be smiling and laughing all the time, shit happens after all. Someone you care about just died you won't be there high-fiving everyone. But I mean a permanent state where you can at least feel content, peaceful, grateful, satisfied. I don't think such a thing exists. You may experience such a state for perhaps a extended period of time - several months, maybe a couple years - but life is cyclical and I believe worse times must come so we don't forget to appreciate the good ones when we're living them. I also believe we grow desensitized if things don't change. There must be a bad for every good. There must be change. Also, I think every human being will develop new goals and needs to be fulfilled as times goes by and those things will eventually get in the way of one feeling truly complete, contented.

It may be possible to permanently achieve a certain threshold of happiness but certainly not the utmost and completely satisfying level that everyone craves for.

The meaning of life is to dream up things you want but can't have or attain. And each day you slowly have those hopes and expectations ground into dust that will one day blow away on a light breeze, and with it you too will cascade into nothingness, as part of a cacophony of disappointment at the long littleness of your existence.

Fuck me, I make George R.R. Martin seem positive.
