I have never heard of a film version being better than the book. Ever.

The last film I watched based on a book - The Bridge of San Luis Rey - was horrifically shit. I may have to re-read the book so as to not have the film as my lasting memory of it.

And I watched the first episode of Orange Is The New Black and thought it was crap too so I don't blame you.
