He was poor today but he has been good or decent in other tough matches. You guys are letting his fame cloud your judgements. Everyone was a bottler at that Arsenal because the team sucked and Barcelona didn't suit him. Anyhow, even if it was true and he was a bottler it's not impossible to change. Just look at Robben.

Woeful today. He's 27 and surely he should be able to put up better than that display.Playing him without additional defensive cover in away games is asking for trouble. He is not a midfield controller, more a flat track bully.

He was a bottler at Arsenal, Barca.. is he going to continue the trend over here. Everton, City and now United, all the big PL games thus far and he's gone missing.

We've always had players with the right mentality, Cesc never had it.

It's to early to say, he was ok at Everton.

The thing is the Arsenal bottling is ingrained in the club, Henry (last couple of season's) Nasri RVP etc were all part of those teams too.

Fucking hell, we signed him and for about 3 months he was the best thing since sliced bread then one poor performance against Manchester United and people are saying he never shows up in the big games and they can see why Barca sold him and all this stuff? Lets forget how he has brought our team up to a different level yeah sure.... and that he has 8 assists in 9 games.... We also have one fucker posting Thiago Alcantara? Jesus fucking christ. Fuck Thiago Alcantara.

It's impossible to make any excuses for Fabregas after that perfomance. It's not only he was anonymous, but he was incredibly poor in possession as well. And the corner to Drogba, after many failed attempts, wasn't anything special. It was Drogba who had a great header. I expect more than just a single decent corner for 90 mins from him. He's 27 and supposed to be one of the more mature players out there.

He was anonymous for most of the game due to him being heavily marked, but it opened up spaces for others. He could have definitely done better, but I'm against calling a "bottler" on the basis of one sub-par game. Everyone can have an off-day, especially when you play a striker he has no chemistry with.

It's bloody amazing how quickly people are scapegoating him and calling him a bottler.

You're only as good as your last game and all that.

At Arsenal he had many games where he performed in the big games. Us for a a start. The game they beat us 3-1. He scored and assisted 2 IIRC. Few seasons back as well he changed the game at OT when he assisted Adebayor for the winner in the last minute. He had many games for Arsenal where he performed in big games. Barcelona was the only team you can say he was not really effective in. Everton is harsh to say he bottled it. Yes, he had lapses of concentration but he made couple excellent passesm one of them being for Diego Costa's goal.

THIAGO ALCANTARA LUKA MODRIC

Stop your rubbish. You are starting to piss people off with your constant bullshit. If you aren't going to post anything sensible just don't bother.

Even though I think that's quite harsh it isn't too far from the truth. However, we're top of the table due to his ability to punish the lesser teams - something we didn't have last season.

We missed Ramires' running and energy more than ever today in my opinion.

Fabregas is not a big game player, he is a great player who can DOMINATE AGAINST SMALLER TEAMS though. Nothing wrong with that, in fact he was brought in to do that as we struggled against small teams last season. If he was that complete midfielder Barca wouldn't have sold him in the 1st place. He is still one of the best midfield in BPL, just that he isn't up to it in big games for some reason. It was the same at Arsenal and Barca, no idea why anyone can debate against that.

It is a negative though and anything negative against one of our best player= abuse immediately

Lack of mobility and he's being asked to cover too much ground in a 2-man midfield.
