Players underachieving at the Chels

I have been wondering sometime ago why our players play worse here than they do for NT, previous club or future club.

Sturridge, Schurrle, Oscar, Luiz, Mikel, Willian, all strikers in general (Lukaku, Torres, Ba,...), De Bruyne...have never realy put same consistancy as they did in club we bought them from or in the club we sold them after. Or even when playing for their NT.

Obviously, several players didnt even get the chance; Kdb, Lukaku, Danny. But then there are others who did and still never reached same level as we expected like Luiz, Ramires, Mikel,...

First thing, the board is stupid. Main reason lies in Sturridge as perfect example. He scored 9 goals in first half under Avb, as soon Avb was sacked, Danny never realy got first team action, one would think Torres got back to his best, but that wasnt realy reason for Danny not playing. I will never understand why is Torres getting all that playtime, yeah he cost 50mio but he was playing simply terrible and as big club with enough money, we should get rid of him 2 seasons ago. More baffling is how Mourinho, who benched MATA and before CASILLAS, arguably something only crazy man would do back then, but yet he couldnt see how shit Torres is. I mean, is Ba realy that worse?!? Why is Mou still sticking to Torres, Mou of all people, I wont ever understand. But that is discussion for another topic. So, Danny, boy we never trusted moves to Lpool and becomes top striker in two seasons. Would be that different if we simply benched Torres and give Danny a real chance? I guess same goes for Lukaku who exploded twice already, in West Brom and Everton. And still not being given chance here. Imo, even if he will get it, he simply wont show same performances as he does on loan.

But there are Luiz, Willian, Oscar, Schurrle, Ramires who have high potential, but never realy show it. Willian was voted as starting 11 in last seasons CL group stage, performances he made were superb, creativity, hard work and end product. He has yet to show any kind of end product here. Schurrle another player who had beasty long shot, but apparently he forgot it in germany. Surprising, as soon he played game for NT, he got that skill back. Luiz who puts world class performance every fucking time in NT, perhaps being even better CB than Silva in last conf cup cant put such performance once here. Not to say being at least bit consistent. Ramires who was amazing when team was bad, now suddenly cant do anything. Gets better partner and he starts playing totaly shit. Coincidence perhaps or sth else? Kevin de Bruyne amazing at Werder, amazing in NT, but cant even make Mourinho to give him a game to prove. When he gets it, he fails.

So what is it? The coach, the pressure, lack of motivation, lack of trust when playing for Cfc or something else?

1. The approach. It is very different to play around with the likes of Neymar and Hulk instead of Schurrle and Torres. Obviously the player need the system to accommodate them.

2. The mentality. Some of the player play for teams that don't defense at all, they are so good they just attack attack and attack like Brazil, Germany, Spain. This leads to the player having obviously more freedom to express themselves compared to our when we are ready to park the bus against Basel.

3. The manager. Changing managers continuously doesn't help, 1 man favorite is another man bitch. Sturridge and us painfully found this out with AVB/RDM and now Lukaku will find out in the summer with Jose when he is going to be sold, maybe same with Courtois. Kevin and Mata already experienced the full effect of this.

4. Expectations. Oscar is finding this out now. It doesn't matter if you score 10 goals up until Xmas, you are nothing if you have a slight drop in form as the season wear on. This isn't WC or Euro where you play 3-4 weeks, putting in best performances and then go on a long summer break. This is a long season, where just because you beat Arsenal 6-0 doesn't mean you will beat a potential relegation team the same next week. It just doesn't work like that, unlike with national team where Spain can keep on winning against the likes of Chile, Sweden when the matches are played on average 3-4 months between them.

What im trying to point out is that Oscar vs spain (or italy, if you think its easy to score vs spain) will make superb assist to Neymar, while he will fail even the simpliest pass vs Crystal...same goes for Luiz who looks 10 years more mature in NT than here. And he played in big games vs spain etc where pressure is certainly higher than vs palace. The point is they dont even try here and dont have ability here. Besides Oscar should love Mou as he fancied him ahead Mata, he had great start, but in 2014 Oscar looks like he just came to europe...

As you say if Oscar is that reliant on his team mates, well then...

In the cases of De Bruyne, Schurrle (in the early phases of the season), Sturridge (under Di Matteo): I feel there is a difference playing at a smaller club like Werder Bremen or Bayer Leverkusen - with less pressure and expectation - to playing at Chelsea where there is lots of pressure and expectation which can make some players struggle mentally (which I feel De Bruyne struggled with) and there is also a hell of a difference playing 17 or 18 games at Bolton as a CF to playing week in week out as a CF at a massive club like Chelsea. The De Bruyne thing, you could also argue is the same for Lukaku, he missed a penalty in the Super Cup and apparently wanted to leave? I mean that speaks for itself, he probably felt he couldn't deal with that sort of pressure every week from a very demanding fan manager who is needing the team to be very successful no matter what due to a ruthless owner and a very demanding fan base (lets be honest, we were all half expecting us to be in the running for the title if not to win it this year due to Jose coming back).

You forgot about Drogba in all of this.

does every hater of Torres have a Voodoo of him? if no, they better make it. and every single time of pricking it, they need to say : 50 mln, 50 mln - 9 times duiring the day. it's going to help :D

is board stupid? may be, in some cases. everything else - whim of the owner and/or wisdom of our stupid board - Cole, Mancienne, Di Santo and Essien from the latest

Luiz plays well in NT? because there is no Garry and JT

Starr? only one word - EGO in my mind when i try to remember him
