Chelsea collaborate with The Simpsons

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce a new collaboration with the iconic animated TV series The Simpsons.

In partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, the Simpsons collaboration will see a co-created line of Chelsea-branded merchandise featuring Springfield's famous father and son, Homer and Bart Simpson.

To celebrate the announcement, five Chelsea players - Petr Cech, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Fernando Torres - have been 'Simpson-ised'.

Terry said: 'It's great to see myself and the other players as Simpsons characters. The Simpsons was and still is my favourite show, and is now my kids' too. I can't wait to see what Bart and Homer will look like as Chelsea players.'

Chelsea FC Chief Executive Ron Gourlay added: 'We are very pleased to announce such an exciting partnership. The Simpsons is a hugely popular show and I hope Chelsea fans will enjoy seeing its main characters in our colours.'

The Simpsons is the longest-running scripted show in TV history, and is now in production on its 26th season. The Simpsons has won 28 Emmy Awards and named the 'Best Show of the 20th Century' by Time Magazine.

Not trying to read too much into this, but why isn't David Luiz included? He's an instantly recognisable character because of the hair, he has a good social media presence, he's South American and he was a big part of the Adidas promotion in pre-season. It's surprising to me that he hasn't been chosen, and might hint at his future with the club.

Or maybe not.

Either way it's a nice reminder of just how big this club is becoming. That we've been chosen as the English representatives is great from a business standpoint but also a timely reminder of our stature in the game. Plus it's fucking cool.
