Btw he was at a dinner/dance thing last week and he said why he was sacked.

After the Inter CL loss, Abramovich called a meeting with the team, Carlo, and Ray. Abramovich was angry, basically saying it wasnt good enough. Ray said he interjected and said "We are sorry for the loss, and the fact it has cost you £20m, but we were turned over by someone you recently sacked". Abramovich said "Meeting over".

When they returned for pre season Carlo told him he was no longer needed

As someone who used to sing the Wilkins song* in The Shed all those years ago, this saddens me but he's a growm man who was dealt a great hand in the game of life; talent, money, brains, everything. He knows as well as we all do that you can't put people's lives at risk by driving when you are drunk. Having been done for this twice previously he deservs a jail sentence and I'm affraid he's going to get one. In that regard, winding up the court by making up excuses for not attending, won't help.

*Just the Ossie song with 'Wilkins, Wilkins' replacing 'Osgood, Osgood'.

I know he divides opinion nowadays as a pundit, but he's Chelsea through and through and one of the best and most successful England players to come through our academy over the years.

Thoughts and prayers with him, and hoping he pulls through this.

My childhood hero along with Peter Osgood. Captain at 18 a Chelsea legend who when he played for England there was enormous pride amongst Chelsea fans as we were short of star players back then. Thoroughly decent bloke no ego at all and always had time for the fans get well soon Butch.
