Contrary to popular belief we don't make many mistakes in letting young players go, but this was the exception.

Every club does it, it's done, move on. Its no bigger a cock up than United letting Paul Pogba go, that's for sure.

So sorry for u, that the best player of a club who has had players like Eusebio and Preud'homme is now a clumsy, croatian bean-pole. Maybe not a coincidence, that u have not won a single international trophy since the dinosaurs died out and won your joke-league only twice in more than 20 years...

I have recently included a buy out clause in the contract of my left jack wolfskin flip flop. That flip flop is the best flip flop I'v seen being on my foot. Better than the adidas one, the puma one and the crocs one...you name them.

It won't go for less than 200million. That's for sure

great man. you do have a point ;)

Maybe this was his plan all along. Go until January with the central midfield we have now and scout a few in the mean time to see which we should buy. Hopefully he checks out Witsel too. ;)

Might be easier to get Witsel if the Russian club does a fire sale like Anzhi.

But Benfica play hard ball so it will be hard to get back Matic.

That's unlikely as the structure at Zenit is there for some time now and they've been a top Russian club ever since. It's unlikely that Gazprom will stop their sponsoring anytime soon IMO, they are a too big company and they also sponsor Schalke e.g.. The situation at Anzhi was quite different as the club was construed to achieve short-time success and because they simply didn't manage to do that, their money supply was cut off.

Matic's market value (€22m) is still less than Witsel's (€32m) and the fact that Zenit bought the Belgian for €40m, would not make him cheaper for us. Portuguese teams are always hard to negotiate with though.

Matiç won't leave Benfica for less than 40 €.

The way things are here with all the pressure on the president and the coach... that would be the last nail on the coffin

What the heck is "market value"?

Benfica logic: We sold Witsel for €40m, so we'll do the same with Matic!

:lol2:

Porto and Benfica always make me laugh every transfer window, Hulk for €50m+ and Matic for €40m LO-fucking-L! :D

So an imaginary number set by someone who has nothing to do with either the club or the player? Sounds legit..

It's actually quite a decent site. Their valuations are considered after crunching statistics. I heard Simon Kuper talk about it long back, the topic was on football statistic sites, and how transfrmarkt was quite under-rated when compared to Opta, FourFourTwo, Squawka, etc. But usually when people talk about transfer market value, they take valuations from this site. Trusted or not, people can't be 110% sure, but there's work done behind getting that number.

Unless the algorithm they use to "crunch" the statistics has somehow managed to solve for all the variables in the universe and predict the future then the number means next to nothing. Football transfers do not follow rules or even patters. Heck, often they don't even follow logic. That's why Bale goes for 90+m while Villa goes for under 5!

Bottom line is, you're probably better off using FIFA ratings to compare players rather than what a site think they are worth.
