Should be Messi but I voted for Ribery. Best player on the best team. Don't get why anyone would vote for Ronaldo. He scored 34 goals for the second place team. Messi scored 46 for the first place team. Not only that but we come back to one of my favourite topics-usage. Ronaldo scored those 34 goals on 234 shots. Chelsea's top three shooters last year Lampard, Mata, and Torres combined for 35 goals on 218 shots so really Ronaldo is not a particularly efficient player. He just takes an insane number of shots. You give any very good player 7 shots a game, they are going to score a bucket-load of goals. (Especially in a league like La Liga which is dire after the top few teams.) Messi, on the other hand, scored 46 goals on 163 shots which is unbelievable. Ronaldo not only scored 12 fewer goals, He also took 71 fewer shots. Or put another way. Messi scored Juan Mata more goals than Ronaldo who took Juan Mata more shots than Messi.

Will be real disappointed if sweinstieger isn't in the final three as apart from Iniesta, he has easily been the most influential and talented midfielder out there. He is at the core of all of Bayern's recent success. I find Ribery to be over rated IMO

If I'm not mistaken, the award is based on the calender year 2013, so bringing up overall season stats is completely irrelevant at this point. Messi has scored 16 goals in 2013, Ronaldo has scored 31. In the big games, Ronaldo has come to the fore (most of the time) while Messi has been struggling with injuries and has been poor by his standards. Ronaldo is also the current top CL scorer and was the CL top scorer last season. In no world should Messi win or be ahead of Ronaldo/Ribery this year. They have both been far more influential to their teams THIS YEAR.

Ribery is a different case altogether. Let's remember that this is predominately an individual award. Most of the bearing should be on that, then team performances and trophies. If you remember back in 2010, Sneijder was outstanding in Inter's treble winning team, but still Messi won the award on individual performances. IMO, if this is consistent, Ronaldo should win the award this year. If the award now wants to start taking into account team successes, then Ribery should win.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, FIFA have extended the voting till the 29th and that votes already cast can now be changed.

Don't know if it's true though. It's ridiculous that the deadline was on the 15th when there were still so many important matches to be played but if they really have changed the rules after people had already voted, it's even more ridiculous.

so out of the 9 playing months so far, (11 months - 2 {june and july}), messi has been injured for almost 4 months, has not done anything much in the last 3 months since the new season started but i can definitely understand him winning this award.
