Andre Gomes was great last night for Portugal.

Sometimes I feel you're just a troll trying to wind up things in here. All the bang average players are "great" to you and vice versa. There's German and Italian lads in here following Rudiger's progrees both in Bundesliga and Serie A, saying he's dog shite, but you still playing the same broken record trying to make him look like the 2nd coming of Beckenbauer. And now Andre Gomes, supposedly "great" lol........

Half the world is hyping Gomes up, but Petrescu from Romania, football expert is saying he is dog shite.

Don't get me wrong, it's just baffling. Willing to bet you'd be one of the first laughing off the board, if they fail to sign him and he shines at United. Not to mention the fact, that SO Many players had shite first games at the EUROs. Doesn't mean a thing. People are saying he is good, people who understand football, seems to me like he is up for the job.

Actually I'd like to hear @petre.ispirescu opinion on Gomes. He often gets it right about players and I value his opinion on most topics.

Edit: I can't correctly mention users in my posts, I give up
:D

The whole world says that Gomes is great but Petre.ispirescu from Romania says otherwise.Maybe it would help if actually watched him play i can bet that you never watched him.

I value everyone's opinion, when there are valuable arguments.

Mate I am half Romanian half Chilean, speak Spanish fluently and I follow La Liga and all the TV shows in Spain through sattelite TV. No one in Spain holds Andre Gomes in such high regard as you do, stop making things up. Half the world, lol.....  He's getting the same type of hype Dani Parejo used to get years back. One fabulous match and he was the next Xavi Hernandez and then 5 matches in a row when he was pure crap. Andre Gomes did nothing so far to be valued at over 40m. He's a 20m player at most.

I find it hard to believe this news because he's not even a Conte type of midfielder, he's something of an attacking midfielder that likes to dribble like mad and looks like a donkey when things don't go his way because he is tall, does not have a low centre of gravity and of course can't dribble 4 players at a time....

Edit - and because he is owned by Jorge Mendes and apparently wanted by Mourinho, that doesn't make him a must buy lol.

That's more like it, this is the type of argument I wanted to see. As I have not seen enough of him to judge, I just see people's ratings and talk and the odd match. From what I've seen, he's a good tackler and also technical and creative and is that's a reason for all the hype, basically his all roundness. On the other hand, I've seen conssistency issues.

Will have to up it by £10m according to some reports due to a sell on to Benfica.  If you're asking me who id rather buy out of him and Nainggolan based on their Euro performances you'd choose Gomes.

I'd guess it is either a nudge to Roma saying we will go elsewhere if you dont take our bid.  Or Roma have told us we have zero chance of signing Radja and we have moved on

But it would be dumb to make that choice off of one game.

I'm just confused by the targets we've outlined. What exactly are we looking to play?

Have a hard time believing this. Seems like a play to show Roma that we have other targets and that they should consider the next Naingolan offer, which I have no doubt will be coming soon.

There's simply no way that we'd bid 32 for Gomes and not pay the exact same amount that Roma supposedly want for Conte's "primary target".

Now this would be an exciting signing. Would be a very good B2B midfielder which is what we need. Inclined to say that I think I'd prefer him over Nainggolan.

The Spanish fellas I chat with say he isn't that overrated or terrible but a fairly solid player that could improve immensely in the future. I do however, agree that he isn't worth 40m. Sounds a little like Dembele, shame he doesn't have the balance. Shows flashes of Kaka, but nothing more than flashes.

A single good game in the Euros people who have only seen him play once are hyping him.

I know who the media, fed by a combination of agents working for players, agents working for clubs and sooth-sayers, tell me have been identified as targets by Chelsea but I'm not prepared to judge the club on such scanty evidence.
