Fernando Torres

Fact is he looks fit, he looks confident, he looks composed, he is making the right runs, his touch is good, his finishing is good, his passing is good and his link up play is good and he's won 3 big trophies in 6 weeks.

Yeah, that is why he was on the bench for all the 3 finals...

If he's not confident now, he never will be. With Hazard, Mata and Ramires and possibly Hulk, Marin and de Bruyne, he must score more, seriously.

Until that happens, we can never be sure. Would like to see him succeed for our sake but it's still early to say he will be a success next season, even with those creative players.

We've seen what he's done with Spain in 184 minutes with creative players.

Yeah, against a dreadful Irish side and a 'dead' Italy...

This thread is ridiculous because every time Torres does anything, it explodes into "Torres is amazing!!"

lmao every time Torres does something bad it explodes too into "Torres is shit!"

So what's better, praising our Chelsea player when he has good games and performances or abusing him because he didn't score?

Confused because u quoted me lol but anyway whatever people say, with the right assists and players picking out his runs and actually giving the ball to him, he will score goals. He's been mocked and abused but that's because of the shit players we had on the wings not helping him or being good enough to pick his clever runs out.

Glad the likes of Kalou and Malouda are probably going and Sturridge can hopefully grow up a bit and stop being a selfish cunt of he'll be the next out. Hazard - Mata - Ramires with Marin there too and maybe de Bruyn. Torres will score goals and all u ppl will realise that the last 18 months wasn't due to Torres being shit, it was because of our shit build up and creative play that didn't suit the way Torres plays.

Let's not blame the champions of Europe for torres lack of goals again. Very annoying. Drogba scored many for us with that same line u.

Kalou, Malouda, Bosingwa and such get abuse and praised when they deserve it.

What's your point?

Exactly, better than blaming the entire Chelsea team for his lack of goals.

It shouldn't be "Torres is shit" based on a bad game or two either. The difference though is that Torres actually has been shit for us so a bad game just seems like a continuation of that whereas a good game seems meaningless. What so many of us find frustrating is that Torres has been one of Chelsea's worst players and still gets more love than anyone. Take someone like Malouda- He averaged 9 goals and 9 assists over 5 years with Chelsea. He led us in goals a season ago, he has contributed so much more to Chelsea than Torres has but fans loathe him. Kalou has been involved with 100 Chelsea goals in his career despite playing largely on the bench, had excellent work-rate and was great defensively and fans loved seeing him go. Sturridge led us in goals last season despite playing out of position. Fans hate him. But Torres? Torres gets more love than Lampard, Terry, Cole or Cech all of whom are Chelsea legends. Torres has done virtually nothing but is still adored. It's just mind-boggling.

Torres can't catch a break. He scores against Ireland but they're "garbage goals" that don't count because Ireland's a poor side. He gets a goal against Italy, a quality side, and it doesn't count because they weren't trying anymore. Sigh. The only thing Torres can do is score against the opposition he's up against, and he did that really well this tournament. I hope this form carries over into the new season. Good for him.

Torres has had many good performances without finding the scoresheet and there is no way Torres get more love than Lamps, JT etc. Lamps, JT, Drogs, Cech, Cole etc have proven without debate that they are true Chelsea legends so these debates don't happen. Torres has struggled in his Chelsea career and we're backing him because we want him to be a Chelsea great. We all know what Torres can do and i personally will back him to the hilt.

No he doesn't.

Maybe not more, but definitely as much and with less cause. When Lampard had a bad patch this season, half the fans wanted him gone and nobody was saying "oh, he's secretly playing great, you just can't tell" or "It's everyone else on the team's fault".. I love Lampard, but he had a very poor stretch. It happens. When Cole and Cech had a few screw-ups early in the year, nobody denied that they made some horrible plays. Do you think that there would be a single other player at Chelsea who could be useless for a year and a half and still get his name sung?

Not taking away the goals and what he did but the amount of people having a wankfest over Torres just because of the trophies he has won this year is just embarrassing. He may have won all those trophies but it still doesn't hide the fact that he blows hot and cold at the moment and is still nowhere near his best. He scored 2 against a rubbish Ireland side(no disrespect to them) and 1 against an Italy who have already given up and people are treating it like he scored the winning goal in a World Cup final against Brazil, Argentina or something.

"Not taking away the goals and what he did"

*few sentences later*

"He scored 2 against a rubbish Ireland side," and "1 against an Italy who have already given up"

Exactly, add to the fact that now Drogba is gone, Fernando won't have to play under his shadow and the club will give him the main striker role. It's now or never for FT9.

Torres get scrutinised because he's world class. If he was shit like Kalou no one would care if he played like a cunt.

I hope that's a joke, even when Kalou scored a hat-trick against Stoke he was still treated and talked about like he just got caught red handed smacking kids with a baseball bat.

He's the Golden Boot winner, deal with it. I don't know why anyone is unhappy. It's only better for CFC if he starts performing. He's looked good this tournament, he's slowly getting back to his best.

Let's support him as he's going to be our main striker next season. He deserves to be praised for his achievements, and he deserves to be criticised for poor performances, just like any other player is. He's played well today, so there's no point in looking at the past and using that as a yardstick to beat him and anyone who praises him with.

Stop being such women guys!

P.S.

No disrespect to any female members.

If you analyze his play without the context of his overall contribution/performance this past season, you see an efficient striker who converted chances when given smart forward balls from organized build-up play. Spare the first game against Italy, I think we can all agree that Torres has had a very quality performance at the Euros -- one that we can use to [somewhat] predict how he can best be used next year. The additions of Hazard, KDB, and Marin (and hopefully a deep-lying playmaker) will dramatically increase the amount of incisive service compared to the amount he got this past year.

As Chelsea fans how could we not take an overwhelmingly positive reaction from his Euro performance?
