Fernando Torres

I know we don't have a lot of creative players but Mata has so many assists this season and potential assists to players like Torres who have failed to score. Usually when you have a player who tops the assist ranking like Mata then a striker in your squad is usually around the top of the scorers league. We don't have that because Torres is shit and other players like Lampard Ramires and Sturridge are scoring in the box. Torres is a waste of time we might as well just stick the fast Lukaku upfront and hoof it to him bypassing the SHIT midfield. Just hoof it to Lukaku and scrap for that second ball lets just go back to basics lol until we can sort this mess out. Lampard Ramires and Mata will thrive off those knock downs and Lukaku used to do it effectively in Europe against sides like Benfica and Ajax.

But can Lukaku actually hold the ball with us lumping it to him? Just becuase he is big dan strong does no meam he is actually a target man. Again people are only comparing him to Droga and not actually Lukaku himself. From what I have seen he will struggle with our play like every other striker we have

He's actually really good at holding players off and he's ultra fast but his touch is woeful just as bad as Drogba's. He's a threat and I would put him in the team just to give the other side a problem with his pace and his hunger. I would put him up there and play him to death like we did with Drogba when he arrived. He has a similar drive and hunger like what Didier had when he arrived. If we keep playing Torres and he goes the rest of the season without a goal it will tear him apart especially if players like Ramires/Lampard are getting goals from the middle.

Have you watched him while he was in Belgium? All I have saw from him is fom the reserves, never seen anyone lump up to him. And again, peole keep mentioning Drogba like he is some sort of clone.

That was his former clubs style. They used to hoof it to him and they used to ping cross field passes so he could use his pace behind the defence. I think we should give it a go !

Most of the goals I have seen him scored never had people hoofing the ball to him. They all contained something we badly lack (and have been crying out for age) creativity and quick passing. Again there is to much Drogba coming into it when people think about him. Which pisses me off. I'm sorry but its never actually about him most of the time. But even with Drogba we hardley used the hoof option when it came to scoring goals.

We did actually, most of Lampard's goals come from Drogba knock downs and flicks. Lampard used to thrive on the second phase of play. We should go back to that, have a target man with a midfield runner and just secure that 4th spot. We don't have the players to play the AVB way. Bosingwa is the worst passer of the ball since Sissoko.

Well I'm sorry but those days are over. Lukaku is not Drogba and Lampard is slowlyon the decline

I'd hate to burst the Torres hate bubbles, but between the EPL and UCL... Torres - 22 apps and 4 goals, Drogba - 18 apps and 6 goals.

I love the big man just as much as anybody else, but his goal return is only marginally better than the Spaniard. He could come back tomorrow, he's still not going to save our season.

Sturridge started well and has 9 goals between both competitions (well, 9 EPL, 0 UCL), he has however been pretty cold recently. Truth of the matter is none of our forward players are on hot streaks, in fact, our whole team just isn't scoring enough. Wag the finger at Torres all you want, but he only deserves so much of the flack.

Torres: 1 goal in 5.5 games

Drogba: 1 goal in 3 games

Drogba's done much better, imo.

We can have an overhaul or whatever next season, but for now I just hope Drogba comes back and knocks that Spaniard out of the starting 11. Even if we won't win all our upcoming games, I can at least rest easy knowing the guy will try to make something happen out of nothing.

Its a lot a better than seeing that blonde struggle with the ball and our weakened midfield.

Well considering only Torres & Drogba have been given runs in the team as the main striker, it's not surprising that Sturridge has only 9 goals(1 less than Torres and Drogba combined lol). He is terribly easy to defend against stuck on the right wing - only thing he can do is try to get it on his left, can't cross too well - has decent passing and shooting but only with his left boot so the left left backs usually stand off him not allowing him to cut in.

We also have Lukaku - who is still young but despite that, should be given a chance at this point.

I won't say that Drogba is a better option - he used to be but not any longer. Both of them have been pretty awful, two goals more for Drogba doesn't make a difference in my eyes. The problem is that Sturridge and Lukaku have barely gotten a look in to replace them all season long. This is what frustrates me

Luckily Didier isn't (and never has been) purely about goals, he is a far more complete player than Torres and always has been. Im not saying that if we play Didier we will storm up the league and finish top. I am saying that playing Didier will give us a better chance of finishing 4th (absolutely essential) and a better chance of beating Napoli in the Champions League.
