Longterm hopefuly english player. Nothing gets better to see english youth player to be captain of our club. Terry spoiled us, but I hope if we cant have many english players around, at least have english captain.

That said, atm I dont see any english player having captain characteristics and football skill to get that role here. Maybe Cahill, but we will see.

Baker, Stones, RLC, but those are all realy long shots.

Agree with this point.

Imo, if we do include the 'foreign' players into account against the potential or eventual English players (two of which i thought would have been Jones and Shaw), I have always envisioned that we would be the club to select a natural English leader as we did with Terry, excusing the 'other' factors that led astray, maybe Chalobah/Baker, etc. but whoever needs to have been at the first squad role AT LEAST two years.

Maybe an 'other' can take the role before an English leader can.

Hopefully you know what i meant rather then sounding as a giant dick.

Chelsea have had many impressive results in their unbeaten start to the Premier League season but perhaps the best so far were their two away victories on Merseyside at both Everton and Liverpool. They have something in common too. Nemanja Matic delivered the team talks.

Meeting up with him in Fulham at the promotional launch of new racing game The Crew, the suggestion that he might have got a taste for the experience gets short shrift. “No! I don’t like to talk but every game some player has to say something before the game. I hope that I have finished for this season with the speeches.”

So what did he say? “I just told them that we have to win this game because it’s very important, Liverpool are a good team and when you win games like this it gives you more confidence for the rest of the season. But with Chelsea you can say what you want, the players know what they have to do.”

It's a rotation. Everyone that can speak English gets a turn to do the team talk, even the staff. Didn't the physio do it before the match at the Ettihad last season?

Read somewhere before that Mourinho sometimes lets another person, be it a staff member or player, to do the team talk before a match. Nothing biggy about it really.

Billy McCulloch - the masseur - gave the team talk before that game.

He actually has a list that goes around everyone. Coincidentally he talked about it today in the PC. I was surprised to hear that even the players that don't speak English get a turn!

And yeah, it was the masseur and Jose joked that he didn't understand a word because of his Scottish accent.

That's the type of thing Arsenal fans were saying about Arteta though..

There is a reason most 'successful' captains have similar traits, Matic doesn't fit that mold currently.

eh? Arteta is a good leader.
