Start with good ole' DBZ's recent news,

Another DBZ movie was announced 2 days ago:

Toriyama's giving us some fresh DBZ material (minus Kai which is DBZ without filler). If your a Dragon ball fan join Kanzenshuu (formally Daizenshuu ex) too!

A lot of anime out there, well known ones such as Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tale, Bleach (the big four) and also lots of other fantastic little-known animes too. Discuss here. Right now the new Hunter x Hunter is amazing.

right now I am on a Neon Genesis Evangelion crave. This is really short lived. I freakin' love Ninja Scroll, Ghost in The Shell, Cowboy Bebop & Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. I am a freakin' middle aged man, but I will sit down if Anime is playing

I've recently dropped Anime (for the meanwhile) due to the discovery that there is a whole other side to Japanese media (J-Dramas). They are just sooo good.

Anyway chances are no one will read this nor care but I'm currently trying to watch these Animes (once I pick Anime up again)

The Movie is called battle of the gods (kami to kami)

Here's a plot summary:

Akira Toriyama Joins the Battle.

Not only is the real “Dragon Ball” being resurrected with an all-star cast, but what’s more, for this historic project the original author Akira Toriyama is involved with the original work, story, and character design.

The story takes place several years after the titanic battle with Majin Buu, that determined the fate of the entire universe. Bils, the God of Destruction who maintains the balance of the universe, awakens from a long slumber! Hearing rumors that a Saiyan defeated Freeza, Bils tracks down Goku. Goku is so ecstatic that a tough enemy has appeared after such a long time,

he ignores Kai’s advice and fights Bils, but cannot do a thing against his overwhelming power and is defeated. Bils leaves, but his eerie remark of

“Is there nobody on Earth more worthy to destroy…?” lingers on…Can Goku and co. really stop the God of Destruction?!

I second that question. What is so special about Japanese cartoons? As a kid I liked Digimon, but I've grown out of it since with all the other cartoon shows. How come there are so many teenagers and adults still stuck watching this?

Anime like any other form of movie/TV show has a rating system from U to 18. When we were younger we watched cartoon network and saw children's/teenage anime but that doesn't mean only those anime exists. I implore you to watch some anime movie's otherwise you'll be missing a chunk of some of the great movies of our time. Watch grave of the fireflies (Hotaru no Haka) first in Japanese with subs. You'd never think an anime could get to you as much as this, one of the greatest anti-war movies you'll ever see.

It's probably the only anime I have watched. I don't remember a lot from it, which would indicate I wasn't too impressed.

Okay, I can understand serious cartoons dealing with realistic issues, but most of the anime frenzy is about stuff like this dragonball z or whatnot, which is kids stuff I presume?

Dragon ball is nostalgic stuff, but it is still very watchable and enjoyable. Your sure it was Grave of the Fireflies? Even if it was, you should definitely watch it again mate, it's quite unforgettable most would concur.

Yeah I'm sure. I don't think I want to watch it again, I find it hard to enjoy cartoons, I don't know why. Put it this way, if there was an actual movie with the same storyline, I would find it much better I think.

Recently been watching an anime series called Sword Art Online which is really amazing! Unfortunately, i have to wait for the next few episodes to come out, and then be translated to be able to watch the last three episodes of the season
