Wilfried Bony

Didier Drogba has finally made his move to China and was welcomed by a fanfare that rivalled Willy Wonka’s dramatic return in the 1971 classic. So with Drog’s on his way to raise the profile of Chinese football it was only a matter of time before a rumour would link Chelsea to a player dubbed the new Drogba.

The Metro have gone with little know Wilfried Bony of Vitesse Arnham who has been catapulted to the view of the European champions thanks to an eye catching season last year when he scored 20 goals in 36 matches. But it is not only Chelsea interested, as Newcastle have shown they are willing to offer the £10million the clubs owners feel Bony is worth to entice the Ivorian to the Sports Direct Arena.

He is a strong and clinical striker that can play a central role or on the wing but of the two clubs which should he join?

At 23 and having only played for a decent team in the Eredivise he is not yet ready for a starting role in either team. Especially considering the likes of Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse and Fernando Torres of Newcastle and Chelsea respectively, would be a little peeved to say the least if an unknown was picked ahead of them. Reports suggest Pardew views Bony as an impact sub which is certainly viable and he could become part of something very special at Newcastle if they were to challenge the top four once again.

Chelsea’s ties with Vitesse make it look as though he is destined for a transfer to the Bridge. If it were to happen a loan deal back to Vitesse would most likely be on the cards as his playing time would be limited with Torres looking to impress and the possibility of a big name transfer coming too.

What this means for last player to be tagged as Drogba’s replacement, Romelu Lukaku, remains uncertain. Lukaku hasn’t had the best of times at Chelsea so far and needs some game time at Chelsea or on loan to regain his confidence. Either that or Chelsea may be thinking of off loading him already as they are known for having little patience with players and managers that don’t make miraculously speedy progress.

Wilfried Bony could be a success at either club so it is really just down to what he wants for his career right now. At Newcastle he would start as an impact sub and if impresses would soon get a chance in the first team. Whereas at Chelsea he would no doubt be loaned back to Vitesse for another year before being used in a similar fashion to how Newcastle see him right now.

I think that if he wants to grow as a player he should probably move to Newcastle as he would be given a chance up there. In order to be given a chance or enough time to shine at Chelsea you need to arrive for a ridiculous sum of money or play the game of your life for the few minutes football you receive once every month.

If Bony feels he isn’t ready to leave Vitesse just yet then he should join Chelsea but if he believes he is ready to move on then start learning geordie lad, Newcastle is the place for you.

What about this guy? In my opinion he's the best player in the Eredivisie. You can see that he wants to make a step to an higher stage. He's intelligent on the ball, good vision and very powerful. His headers, his shots and his body strength are from another planet. Comparable to our own ex-superstriker Didier Drogba. This player is from Ivory Coast as well.

He played three seasons for Sparta Prague and now on his third season in the Eredivisie with Vitesse (Kakuta, v Aanholt, Kalas). He's been bought for 4 million euros at 20 years of age. And with the relationship between Abramovic and Jordania there should be enough possibilities.

He looks like another kalou instead of a drogba.

Just because he's the Eredivisie it doesn't mean you can compare him to Kalou. The only comparison between those two is that they're both black. This guy is much better then Kalou when he was playing in the Eredivisie. But if you think he looks like Kalou in the video i've posted, just shows what your vision is.

He looks distinctly average in that video. Haha.

You misunderstood me i said that they are similar in their playing style not in their physical appearance.

25 goals in 44 games isn't the greatest in a league like Eredivisie but as the report suggests Newcastle are looking at him and he'd but a much better fit at a club like that than at The Bridge, we need somebody proven if we were going to move for a striker and he is far from it yet. It's a no from me

He owned Ajax yesterday and Kalas said that Chelsea should dump Torres to get Wilfried Bony.

'Chelsea need a player like Wilifried Bony at the moment. Torres is always moving and works hard, but he is not strong enough to lead the line. I'm sorry for Torres, but that's my personal opinion.'

'Bony has so much quality. It's incredible how strong he is and he's excellent on the ball, too. I can understand why he has been linked with Chelsea and other clubs.

'It will be impossible for Vitesse to hold on to him if he keeps this up. Perhaps we'll play together at Chelsea in the future. That would be great.

'We haven't spoken about a transfer yet, but it would be nice to play alongside him at Stamford Bridge in a while.'

Are we linked with him though? I like Bony, very good player.

I feel like Bony would have the sort of impact Cisse had at Newcaslte Utd - Start off with a goal every game or-so, then suddenly turn into an inconsistent player.

I have no facts, logic, or anything to back that up - just a gut feeling.
