your love for him blinds you to his faults

I know Sturridge's faults and limitations. But people tend to exaggerate them so much. I don't overrate Sturridge, at least I like to think I don't. Haven't made outlandish statements about his ability, but when people make the stereotypical comment like, "Sturridge is a crap player, poor attitude, doesn't work, never passes/assist and always shooting etc." I find it ridiculous, like people who say Mikel never pass forwards. It is just going with what the (in my opinion, unfair) view on Sturridge when if you actually watch him he's not that had. For instance his passing is actually quite good.

He was frustrating today - yes he scored, but twice rather than passing across the six yard box for a tap in he chose to blast into the side netting.

These were my thoughts too.

As sad as I was to see Danny go because of Goldilocks, today made me feel a little bit better because I knew he was frustrating another set of fans instead of us! Great movement and positioning, but a greedy striker who isn't even that good at finishing.

I don't get the criticism it was only after half time that Liverpool even looked like scoring - before Sturridge came on Liverpool didn't even have a shot on target; Suarez was ineffectual trying to lead the line. Sturridge came on scored a goal; setup three chances had 3 other shots for a guy who hasn't played in the EPL since West Brom game two months ago it was more than a decent 45 minutes from him.

Sturridge certainly brought something into the game. He did score the goal and messed some chances, but when he was brought on, Liverpool became more active. Clearly, Utd weren't on their way forward in the 2nd half, but Danny had a lot of touches and was always around when at least a slight piece of danger was created. Apparently, he wasn't Chelsea quality and no one knows if he'd ever be. He's not a top class player, but he's 23 and still has time to improve.

at least he shoots

PS: he loved that last season too.. and my god, he actually scored goals :o

Yeah but not from there  I can remember dozen and dozen of our attacks that ended with a goal kick after his efforts from almost corner flag :D ...

Doing some very rough calculations, Sturridge has a goal every 97 minutes this season. One does not have to be a great finisher to be a great goalscorer(Suarez, Drogba) - and not all great finishers are great goalscorers.(Walcott, though he's done well this season). Mind you, if he learnt to compose his finishes he could be one of the best forwards in the PL.
