Eden Hazard

That has more to do with us being inconsistent defensively at the start of the season. We've started defending better as a team since then... Better protection from the pivot, everyone understanding their tactical role etc... We didn't simply massively improve defensively just because Azpi took over the LB spot.

Regardless, Azpi has been rock solid this season and very, very consistent and has definitely been one of our best players but no one beats Hazard IMO. While Azpi has been consistently good, Hazard has been magical a lot of times this season, and for that he deserves the POTY award IMO. Wouldn't mind Azpi winning it though but I doubt he will since most go for attackers. He'll get something like PPOTY though hopefully.

And I'm counting Azpilicueta and Cahill's renaissance as a huge factor as to why we improved.

He has been magical, I haven't denied it. All I'm saying is that if you remove Azpilicueta we would be losing a lot more games than if we removed Hazard. A big if, yes. I'm not a fan of POTY awards going to just attackers because they create and score more. If they've been out of this world and an entire team is depending just on them, then maybe yes.

Man this guy has covered our asses this season, hope he is back for Sunderland

I agree we look unexciting when he is not there, but he was there when we lost to Villa, Palace, when we could not score against West Ham at The Bridge.

On the other hand he saved our asses against Norwich,Sunderland,Hull,Fulham (all away) and Swansea,Liverpool (home) with great individual performances.

He never saved our asses in the way you are suggesting. Liverpool game was FAR from a one game men, it was a collective effort.

Football is a collective game, but its seems a LOT of people who are watching football these days are getting idiotized and are looking at football in the same way americans look at basketball, where Miami Heat is about Lebron, Lakers was about Kobe, Oklahoma is about Duran. Perhaps that might be true in a 6 men sport, but we are talking about football.

You people make it look we have a very poor team, and Hazard is the one carrying the team on his shoulders.

Umm Basketball is a 5 man sport. Take Durant off the Thunder, LeBron off the Heat, George off the Pacers, they fall apart. Maybe Hazard doesn't exactly "carry" the team, but he is the bulk of our offense. Our leading scorer and assist maker, why are you hating? Without Hazard, we wouldn't be fighting for the title. Just like City without Toure wouldn't and Liverpool without Suarez wouldn't have held on for the whole season.

I meant he won us the games with his goals, not with his one-man performances. The majority of this games were,as you said, collective efforts, but in these matches he often scored the decisive goal.

Lol that is true :)

The comments like Hazard won us the game are ridiculous - it's a TEAM that wins and a TEAM that loses

Azpi's defence could have stopped the opposition scoring 2 or 3 goals - but is that taken into account?

It's nobody's fault - except the 'media' they can't have a headline like CHELSEA TEAM DOMINATES - they need an individual to attribute the success too - because remember - we 'bought' success... So it has to be £50 million Torres or £30 million Hazard went some way to paying back his huge transfer fee by scoring blah blah blah...

Rather than be upset - I'm personally delighted our LEFT HAND SIDE of the pitch has been so productive! Now if we can do the same next season with the RIGHT HAND SIDE and add a STRIKER! - things will be looking good ;)

While Hazard may be a key player for us and one that can produce something out of nothing, it might actually be good in a way if he doesn't play (albeit due to injury only) as that would probably make us be less reliant on a player out there on the pitch.

We don't have a poor team, but our attack has been generally poor. In that sense Hazard has carried the team, he's more often than not the only creative spark going forward.
