Barcelona eyeing shock move for Chelsea's Luiz

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has spoken to the agent of Chelsea defender David Luiz about a possible move to the Nou Camp, according to reports in Spain.

Rosell bumped into Luiz's agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, in Brazil earlier this month when the pair attended a tribute game for Ronaldinho and the Barca chief made no secret of the club's interest in the 24-year-old.

And Spanish newspaper Sport also claims that Bertolucci was keen to hear what Barcelona were offering.

Barca currently have a strict transfer budget reported to be around £40million which will only rise if they bring in money through selling some of their own players. And, with strong interest in Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas already, any move for Luiz seems unlikely this summer.

But Barcelona are believed to be in the market for a central defender and have been linked with AC Milan's Thiago Silva, although any switch to the Nou Camp is expected to be included in Zlatan Ibrahimovic's permanent move to the San Siro.

Chelsea would demand a huge fee from any potential buyers for Luiz, who only joined the club in January from Benfica for £22million and impressed in his first few months in the Premier League.
