Chelsea coach Steve Clarke is being linked with Brian Laws' job at Sheffield Wednesday.

The People says Clarke and former England skipper Alan Shearer are the major targets of the takeover group and their advisers, who are close to buying the Owls.

Shearer will be sounded out if Lancashire-based businessman Geoff Sheard and his moneymen win control in the next few days. He would form a dream team with old pal Mike Newell.

However, insiders believe that Shearer is far from convinced unless there is real money to spend. That leaves the way open for Clarke, who could be tempted.

i'll be pissed off if he goes. He's the only proper Chelsea person left in the management/staff/backroom team. If he goes, another part of Chelsea will be gone.

i don't see stevie as management material, but he's the perfect assistant, he and ten crates do most of the work at Chelsea anyway, no i don't wanna see him leave and i somehow just cannot see him leaving for a div2 outfit as mentioned.
