No it's not apparently, it's official. Anouncement on TOCWS and everything.

Traore's old number? (Iirc?). That didn't take long for the club to replace

Antonio Conte has confirmed Rubens Loftus-Cheek will remain at Stamford Bridge this season rather than be sent out on loan.

How did he do last night?

I didn't watch the match but from the highlights he looked like he had a good first half and decent assist for Mitchy's second.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek impressing as a striker for Antonio Conte's Chelsea

Antonio Conte stepped up his experiment of using Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a forward role in Chelsea's 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. Adam Bate was there to see it for Sky Sports and believes that the move shows some promise…

Conte: "I like Ruben a lot in the position of striker." #CFC (Sky)

Conte: "In this system, with 2 midfielders, Ruben can play close to the other forward but become a forward when we have the ball" #CFC (Sky)

We honestly can't be going forward with him as a CF and not buying someone/anyone in the next few days.

Quite a bit of talk about Gyan coming back to England. I seriously wouldn't be against getting him to fill in for this season.

Not sure Conte really fancies him, tbh. Poor work rate and nonchalant attitude.

If he considers him a striker, when will he ever get a look in with Costa and Bats here? Crowded in midfield as well now that Oscar is considered a CM essentially. Not looking good for him is it?

Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah both with a goal & assist for England U-21 today against Norway.

Edit: Lew Baker with a goal, too.

We should use Chalobah and Loftus this year but probably Mikel will get chance sooner :( it would be a perfect chance because we don't have much depth in 3 men midfield ;)

Every Chelsea fan would love that but it's not gonna happen :(

It would be nice to have 3 men midfield with Kante, Matić, Oscar, Fabregas, Chalobah and RLC :)

Nate and RLC are massively overrated because they are English

"It is hard to tell your players that they have to pay attention because they risk a ban. Diego is aware of this. It is important for him not to get booked for strange situations. It can happen for tackles and when it is necessary. He is an important player for us."

"But we also have Michy Batshuayi, who is also a good player and is ready to show what he can do. Plus we have Ruben [Loftus-Cheek] who can play in this position." - Conte

Interesting that he still considers Ruben a striker.

He's always considered him a forward, ever since preseason and nothings happened to change that. He's not playing Cesc in the midfield, Ruben has no chance.

It's been debated on here whether he still saw him as a forward or not after the preseason.

I think it makes more sense playing him as a CF if I'm honest. Physically it suits him, he doesn't have the technical ability or intelligence to control or dictate the game as a midfielder but he's quick, can take players on and makes good runs in to space. He can hold the ball up too with his frame.
