Maybe because it took effect now and half a season has been played already? Maybe they prefer it to expire in summer.

No, I get that. What I meant is the number of years. Forget the 'half year'. :P Usually in such cases, we go for 5-and-a-half-year contract, no? Barkley, for instance, got the 5-and-a-half-year contract when he joined. But only 4 for Christensen? Peculiar.

Finally some sense from our board. Can't believe actually.
Wish him many successful years with the Chelsea shirt.

Next up, sign Lemar/Fekir, LB and extend Tibo and Eden.

That would cement us in being competitive for next few seasons at the least.

Woah one step at a time here, our board have just signed Barkley they will need a rest now. Can't go thinking too far ahead you know, that will be far to pro-active.

He's currently the polar opposite of Morata. Great with his feet and hopeless with his head! 😄

He will be a Chelsea captain one day, surely? Like its so obvious to see his maturity, leadership skills for a young man, ability and the fact hes been here since he was 15, not even we can fuck that up surely?

It's up to him. If he can prove himself and shows leadership, then why not. For example Eddie Newton praised him to the skies and has backed him to follow JT's path.

I would say hes shown great leadership and understanding, you see him constantly pointing to Rudiger or Azpi to tell them to watch for players/go a bit wider for the ball and hes always talking in games, you can see that when we don't have the ball he talks to those two guys outside him. I think he will go down the same route as JT as well.
