Wiggins is someone you shouldn't be proud of. For one thing, he's not even British. Born in Belgium to an Australian father. Chris Froome is a gentleman and I hope if a 'Brit' (he's actually Kenyan and was a pro bike rider for the early years of his career as a Kenyan) is to win it this year its him, Wiggins is a twat. Don't get too far ahead of yourself either, there's still 2 weeks left in the race, anything can happen in that time. This little beauty still stands in the way of Wiggins and the yellow jersey in Paris:

Wiggins is the cycling equivalent of Ricky Ponting. Obnoxious, brash, arrogant, and disliked by a vast majority of fellow professionals that aren't in his team. Furthermore he is derided among cycling fans as a 'wheelsucker' (To be on a long bike race and trailing a person or group very closely (thereby minimizing your effort and making the person in front of you do all the hard work)all day until the last leg, then taking off to finish the ride first in front of your buddies like you are the hero.). He cost his fellow team mate and 'Brit' Froome the opportunity to win the Tour of Spain last year through his arrogance. This years race suits Wiggins incredibly well, and he's also been helped by the absence of two of the best cyclists in recent years, Alberto Contador and Andy Schleck. He won't kick on from this and go on to dominate the sport, once normals service is restored in terms of routes and the big boys come back to play Wiggins will find it very difficult. Froome, however, is the real deal and as a cycling fan I'm very excited over his potential.

There's no doubt that Britain is experiencing a golden age of sporting achievement. Britain is having its best period in virtually every sport that it plays (football aside), Australia underwent a similar period between 1996 and 2004, that era represented our greatest ever cricket, rugby (league and union), football, track cycling and swimming teams. There's no coincidence that that period revolved around hosting the Olympics. Governments tend to invest a lot into sport around the years where an Olympiad is hosted, and it pays off until the funding is withdrawn. Britain will be up there for another 4 years or so in terms of sporting achievement across-the-board but like Australia before it there will be a decline. Also it must be said that Britain's sporting investment consists of flying a few guys down to Southern Africa, rounding up every sportsman with British ancestry and saying "How about playing for England, lads?". It's not a sustainable manner to go about improving your nations sporting ability.

you post pages of junk in threads ,,,then go OTT over a one line joke .... seems you aussies are having problems with perspective

Rafa is a Champion for a reason.

Yeah, I gave you the reason. Slow courts, that allow more athletic players who aren't as good at tennis to win games. It creates boring tennis, with less winners and less spectacular shots.

Why do you think he's barely won outside of clay? Because clay is the slowest court they have by a good margin. He only started winning the rest once they slowed down the courts even further, and even the balls.

If you enjoy watching the ball being lobbed over the net and waiting for a player to make a mistake, it must be fun for you. Those who like watching tennis a bit more remember it for its more frantic pace and excitement.

Eventually Andy Murray will win a massive grand slam (well hopefully) but he will probably start crying his eyes out worse than when he looses. The guy oozes passion for the sport, you can tell. He might not have won Wimbledon but he won over a whole nation with that incredible performance, first Brit (well I'm gonna say Scot anyway :P) in the Wimbledon final since Fred Perry. He broke one record this year give him another 2 years and he will have broken another :D

Rodger Federer is 31 now isn't he? Nadal is also getting on and Djokovic is in his late 20s so the future looks good for Murray with all these amazing players reaching the ends of their careers. Still ridiculous how good Federer is though, omg. Messi is the Federer of football, thats how good Rodger is :P
