I got choked up seeing him today. I'm sad that I'm too young to have seen him play live, but highlights and clips (the very few ones that I can find ) make me feel that had I seen more of him, he'd always pop up rather quickly in my head when asked - "Who are your favourite footballers of all time?". I always feel odd (again, sad for some reason) when I watch interviews etc. from him nowadays, maybe because in the back of my mind I feel he doesn't have much time left, but he's a player who has and always will define Chelsea.

Bobby has been appointed as Senior team manager of Crosshaven AFC! Just wow, I would never expect him to do so after his health problems. Hats off Bobby!

Tambling returns as Senior Manager.......

Crosshaven AFC are delighted to announce the return of Bobby Tambling, Chelsea & Crosshaven legend as Senior team manager for the 2013/2014 season. Bobby will take charge with immediate effect & will appoint his back room staff in due course. Bobby's love for the club, his ever improving health & his undoubted ability to coach & man manage players, especially younger ones, made this an easy decision for the club. All at Crosshaven AFC welcome Bobby back & wish him well for the coming season.

Bobby Tambling scored in my first ever Chelsea game v Southampton I was 5 and my father took me ,we sat in the benches and he scored with a low left foot shot from the corner of the edge of the eighteen yard box . I can still see the goal in my head.

Does anyone know the extent of his condition or what his illness is?

I realize this was posted in Jan of 2012, but I thought I would just put a quick update. Looks like BT made a full recovery. I had some friends see him in Charlotte, NC & he looks absolutely Great.
