GOMES ‘CLOSE’ TO TOTTENHAM MOVE

https://thisisfutbol.com/2019/05/blogs/gomes-close-to-tottenham-move/

Tottenham are close to securing a move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Spanish outlet Sport, and we think Levy is about to strike gold again.

The report claims that Tottenham executives have agreed a fee of £25.9m with the representatives of Gomes, with the Barcelona player keen on a move to north London.

The meeting with Gomes’ agents took place last week and Barcelona are said to be waiting for the offer, and while Everton want to keep Gomes, Sport has claimed the Tottenham move is likely to succeed.

Many Tottenham fans weren’t exactly delighted with the news, but we think he will be a great player for Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy obviously think so and it looks like Levy has sanctioned the £25.9m bid after meeting with the player’s agents last week.

Tottenham need midfielders. At least one and probably two.

Gomes has been a solid player for Everton this season, with 28 appearances across all competitions, and the 25-year-old still has his peak years ahead of him.

snip

maybe I am being a bit harsh on Gomes (I would take him over Kovacic in a heartbeat) but still, they are in the goddamn CL final and they are shopping for Barca castaways?????

Everton are wanting to keep him and zouma

Young Chelsea striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale will head to Germany later this week for a medical ahead of a permanent move to Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.

The 19-year old east Londoner was top scorer in the U18 Premier league in 2017 and has scored goals for England from U16 through to U20 level. He was also a member of the England U18 team that lifted the Toulon Tournament trophy in 2017.

Sky Sports News understands that Chelsea made an initial offer to keep the teenager, before it was agreed he could leave the club on a free transfer.

It’s understood Hoffenheim are also likely to sign another, as yet unnamed English youngster before the end of the month.

The youth players are seeing whats happened to Sancho at BvB they want to join a German club now

It is also the other way round. Because of all the money invested in English youth deveolpment and the conpetitiveness producing tons of frustrated talents German scouts are almost exclusively searching in England now. I just recently read an interview with bvb Director zorc that 70-80% of their scouting material is on Propsects trained in england and they will employ even more scouts there in the future.

10 players Barcelona will sell to fund Antoine Griezmann and Matthijs de Ligt transfers

Barcelona are prepared to spend £250million on transfers this summer, but with their own financial issues, they must sell a number of stars

Barcelona are facing a huge summer overhaul as club chiefs scramble to raise cash to pay for the club’s big-money transfer deals.

Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong is already due to arrive, in a £67million transfer, and the Spanish champions are also seeking to add his Dutch teammate Matthijs de Ligt in a £65million deal - although there are continuing complications with that switch.

Antoine Griezmann’s announcement this week that he will leave Atletico Madrid on July 1 by paying his £105million release clause looks due to take him to Camp Nou, 12 months after the World Cup winner upset Barca chiefs with ‘La Decision’, rejecting a move to stay in the Spanish capital.

However, now he appears set on linking up with Lionel Messi in Catalunya.

But Barca have a major problem in splashing out over £250million this summer; the club have little in the way of funds to pay, with their intermediary accounts for the first half of the season overdue.

Certainly, deals with Ajax, with whom they have a strong relationship, can be negotiated and paid over a period of time - potentially three or four years.

But Griezmann’s buyout needs to be deposited with LFP chiefs up front to free him from his deal at Atletico.

Now, 12 months on from opening up a £120million credit line with a New York-based lender, and with salary payments - the biggest in world football - to be paid to players at the end of June, they are in desperate need of funds to pay for everything.

As such, decisions have been made to part with 10 players this summer, in a bid to raise over £200million.

Chief among them is Philippe Coutinho, who has largely disappointed since his club record move from Liverpool 17 months ago.

The Brazilian, who earns £12million-per-year after tax, remains the club’s biggest saleable asset and they want at least £90million.

De Ligt’s arrival means France's World Cup-winning defender Samuel Umtiti will be allowed to leave.

The left-sided centre-back suffered an injury hit 2018-19 and couldn’t oust Clement Lenglet from the starting XI when back fit; with doubts over his knee injury still, Barca are ready to sell for £50million - despite him having no intention of leaving.

Juventus and Manchester United are among the clubs who have been keeping tabs on the situation of a player who, fully fit and on form, is one of the world’s best defenders.

Similar to Umititi, Ivan Rakitic insists he is staying put, but despite being a key man for Ernesto Valverde, the Croatian is likely to be sold.

The wrong side of 30, Inter Milan are keen to take him to Italy, with Barca keen on a fee in excess of £45million.

Others on the chopping block, according to Marca, include winger Malcom, Jasper Cillessen, Everton loanee Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez - who has struggled for fitness and minutes on loan at Arsenal - Rafinha and, perhaps surprisingly, the Portuguese right-back Nelson Semedo.

Interestingly, the club will spend €4million to bring back Eibar’s Marc Cucurella, to sell him on for €10million.

However, big-money players, on big wages, with clubs knowing that Barca are desperate for cash, will not be easy to sell.

It promises to be a long summer.

I would LOVE to grab Umtiti (if his knee is sound he is a top 10 in world CB) and Semedo (I think they are mad to sell him, he is a top ten RB) Even Malcom might be woth a shot

fucking bans, grrrrrrrrrrrr

Julian Brandt is expected to joinBorussia Dortmund if he decides to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, Sky Sports News understands.

Reports in Germany and the UK this week claimed Tottenham are among the clubs to have shown an interest in the 23-year-old attacking-midfielder, while he has also previously been linked with Liverpool.

According to Sky in Germany, Brandt is set to stay at Leverkusen if they finish in the Champions League places, which they can still do if they better Borussia Monchengladbach’s result on the final weekend of the season.

And Brandt, who still has two years left on his contract, would also consider staying at the club even if they finish in a Europa League place despite Dortmund’s interest, Sky in Germany understands.

Brandt is one of Germany’s brightest young talents, having already earned 24 senior caps for his country and scored two goals, and he reportedly has a release clause of just £21.5m.

Don;t believe for a second Barca want to sell Umtiti
He didn't play in either game against Liverpool & de Ligt needs to be funded somehow.

There's nothing surprising about the rumours going around.
