Yep agree about Ox. Idk about candreva anymore, he seems to old to play wingback and not better than what we have at RW.

We have too much respect for players in that case.

We could have easily kept Matic who has been here for quite some time, won stuff and is proven player. But instead, as soon he wasnt exactly first option and hoped to leave, we sell him wherever he wants to go, even to our rival like United. We did same with Mata.

We couldnt keep them even for single season. Then you see Utd holding on Martial, Bayern on Muller,...even though their role decreased in last season.

Now it will be very hard to get player like Matic who will be experienced, proven and happy to sit on bench.

Now Im not sure if thats just our policy with players or they simply dont want to stay here unless they have good role. But at least on paper they should, we have been more successful than United or City, yet good players always prefer to sit on their bench than ours...

With two new fullbacks hopefuly, imagine we could have Cech, Rudiger, Alonso, Moses, Matic, Cesc, Mata, Willian and Bats on bench. Instead we have very thin bench with few game changers...

The team recognizes that the player is no longer integral and decides to maximize their value in the market and normally recoups our fee or we make money on a player who would not accept a diminshed role. Muller had a down year but is integral to Bayern. Martial is a young player still proving himself. Matic is a 29 yr old player on high wages who would not be happy getting half the time he is used to. This is a game and a business, we excel at both aspects. Selling Matic for 40m is good business. Cech would never have accepted a diminished role behind Courtois and he deserved our respect and Mata wasn't in the managers plans and we got a huge fee for him. At the moment we are admittedly thin but the window isn't closed and we look to be working on bringing in players.

Good players don't prefer to sit on Uniteds bench, they dont have good bench players at all. City has a glut of attackers but Pep has an allure over that position and they usually lose a huge amount of outgoing players. I respect our Board when they see the writing on the wall with a player or the manager lets them know he isn't in their plans they get out and for a profit.

Yes but at same time our bench looks poor as feck, because we cant get proper replacement in mould of Matic that would "care" for club and accept bench role.

Sure now we have 40m in our pocket, but that wont help us with our title defense if we dont spend it properly.

If we invest that money in young talent, they will be loaded to vitesse, if we get lets say Drinkwater or someone similar for 40m, hell thats money poorly spent and Matic shouldnt be sold.

THE ONLY positive I see in Matic sale is if we spend money on someone quality ala Verratti, Matuidi, Vidal, Tolisso,... (if they were available; but since they are not whats the point in selling Matic if we cant get better player than him then)

Drinkwater for 40 is bad, drinkwater for 25-30 for me is a good deal. We would pocket that extra money and have a more than serviceable player in drinkwater being our depth option at a bigger club.

I agree the money needs to be spent properly and our team is too thin, partly because how the Mourinho years ended our squad was littered with old expensive players and it takes a few years to build the team back up in the new coaches vision. the money from deals like this will help.

Ivanovic, Oscar (he scored one goal in a WC semi-final, didn't he), Mikel (aka The Great), Ake (The new Gullit), Begovic, Chalobah, Traore, Terry, Solanke, Palmer, Zouma, Loftus-Chick and even THAT Brown. They are all gone. Jesus, now we are fucked. We have 12 great players gone, all of them played leading roles in Premier League glory last season. I bet this team will face a tough relegation battle this season and Conte will ask to leave after 3 games into the season.

Has nothing to with leading roles.... there's a little thing called squad depth. Can't just have 11 players and that's it, the sarcastic comments don't cover up the fact are squad is massively lacking depth compared to last season when we had no CL football.

Thing is not always going to be lucky with injuries either. Guess more chance for other players to step up but still. If goes wrong conte be the one with the blame..

A lot of those players were not even on our bench. Our width right now is below average. Two players would make it acceptable, three good and four great. Considering that the party line has been four new signings the whole time, then we should be ok. The club signed four players in July, no reason why they cant do it in August.

Are you trying to be funny, or are those the players you really think we will get?

Seriously, can you stop fucking crying? We have won the league twice in the last three seasons, and we have bought three great players (including a club record).
Your complaining don't even make sense. You are complaining about how we have no width, which suggests you were more pleased when we still had players such as Chalobah, RLC and Ivanovic. Those players were average, and at worst the new players we will get are average as well. Status quo doesnt really change, does it? We will have a group of really good players, with some average to good rotation options.

If people want a yard stick as to where we need to be and the depth that's required then look at the Bayern bench v Liverpool tonight. Coman, Kimmich, Vidal, Sanches and that's just to name a few.

If we want to be at that level we need to stop fucking about with middle of the road enquiries like Drinkwater.

Depth, depth, depth, depth, depth, depth or drowned.

Is that a serious question?

Tbf Bayerns 5th cm Rudy is the exact same player as Drinkwater and Liverpools bench of nobodies wiped the floor with their 150m bench.

Quote

The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the Club in a meeting held at the Club’s offices.

Faced with this position, the Club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals 222 million euros which will have to be deposited in its entirety.

Furthermore, in reply to the claim for the contract extension bonus, the Club has once again made it clear that the amount remains deposited with a notary until the case is resolved.

The player remains under contract at FC Barcelona but with temporary permission to not take part in training sessions.
