Mods can we change this thread into "The Official I hate manure Thread"? Man, I just had this long drawn out conversation w/ a manure fan that believes CFC has no history, despite being a club for 107 years. A club that were consistently finishing in the top six of the Premiership before Mr. Abramovich purchased the club. A club that Mr. Bates brought from the Lower leagues & the club were able to win 2x FA Cups, UEFA Cup Winner's Cup & a League Cup. That is the sorta shit that really pisses me off. The team that we seen the refs sponsor. The team that other teams won't play their best players, cause they are friends w/ Sir Alex  A team that has the most over-rated & hyped players on the planet. I think this Gentleman here really expresses my feelings about manure:

we didnt buy big in the early 90s Manure have been buying big for 50 years

Yes but that person is still correct. We only got into the good on-the-pitch position that we were in before Roman because we invested more than we could afford. He may be a hypocrite if he chooses to ignore that Man United, too, only got to the top due to a huge injection of money at some point in their history; but I think that's normal for any fan of established 'big' clubs. 50 years down the track no-one's going to care that Chelsea only started winning league titles because of Abramovich's money.

Agreed! Makes me laugh some peoples views.

Fan's of the older 'big' clubs are usually arrogant wankers.

then why say you respect Manure Cap? TX does that but he is a closet Manure fan

Because I know quite a few United fans and they're nice people. That and I don't care if a team spends a trillion pounds or nothing at all to win trophies, if you can do it (and do it repeatedly as Busby's United did and Ferguson's United have done) then you've earned it and no one should question that achievement.

Also they recovered from the Munich Disaster, which could have been the end of them. Torino, for example, have had their future dramatically changed because of their air disaster. They were the best Italian team of all time, but ever since the disaster they've been stuck in the lower divisions.

if you had lived in England and seen The RED Army thugs in the 60s ...they started football hooliganism in England.

I think everyone needs to take into account that overseas fans aren't that familiar with what domestic fans of other clubs are. We all know Scouse fans are scum regardless of where they're from but every United fan I've met was a decent sort, never disrespected Chelsea or acted morally superior or caused hooligan trouble. Maybe my opinion will change should I ever visit Old Trafford.

Hmm... Kinda agree after to speaking to my old man - but Milwall, Chelsea and West Ham have all had problems with it - along with City and Cardiff...

I don't particularly like Man U - but when they were the only 'English' team in Europe I did support them, Lee Sharpe/Dwight York etc played some great games...

Every club at 'some' point has had to buy big to maintain success - but there's a big difference... Blackburn did it and then slipped into obscurity... City, almost failed again last year - which would have been unconceivable after the money that they had spent...

We were a consistent top 6 club before RA - and if you look at our investment over those years per trophy, I think you'll find we are in excellent shape. Utd have made some big purchases, but did get 70 million back for CR7... So that helps skew the statistics in their favour, we have never been a 'selling' club.... which i like...

This video basically sums up the thoughts of every football fan excluding the manure. Whats it from though? i don't get why he is in a united pub if he hates them.

Its a scene from a TV series called The Street. The guy hated life & wanted to have his point of view express to those bustas.

We only got to our 90s success by spending way over our means. That guy you talked to was entirely correct.

I totally disagree w/ your statement there. Mr. Bates developed Stamford Bridge & the area around the stadium. He invested in the club where anyone could enjoy a Saturday of Footie in London. That is where the debt came from, but in return Mr. Bates made the club viable enough that he could sell CFC for a profit, which he did. So you can enjoy manure & their media bandwagon, but don't try to say CFC overspent on players. Mr. Bates didn't want to spend money on players & said as much in this interview. Again, CFC were in the 2nd Division & close to going to the 3rd when Mr. Bates purchased the club for 1 pound. Do you think he sold that club for 1 pound & that included the debt of the club?
