I can't see us selling Mata this window even if PSG came knocking with the same amount of cash now that KdB is gone. If we are going to be a top team and challenge on many fronts(cl,fa-cup, the League) we need to have a top squad, and not sell a quality cam to leave us with only Schurrle left in the middle of the season.

They're not synonyms, fyi. Just because he has to adapt his playing style to the system a little bit doesn't mean that he needs to completely change into new player. Hence the "We believe he has a big role to play for us".

i'd hate to see Mata leave, he's one of my favourite players, but if it means getting Rooney in now and not in the summer then I'd be fairly happy. They'd obviously have to have a lot of money involved as well.
