Its the nature of things. When Lukaku seemed certain to come here, RedCafe was calling him a donkey. Now that he seems to go to them, he is the next coming of Christ. Supporters are fickle, and can one week call for the heads of the board, and the next week worship them. Ultimately we do not know what is going on behind the scenes, and CFC might yet have its best transfer window.

It seems that the fee is actually in the region of £100m. £75m straight up, £15m in clauses and a Rooney fee for around £10m waived.

I don't know. The transfer fees this summer are just so hard to relate to. Take someone like Mahrez who is suddenly valued at £50m, surely Lukaku is a better deal from that perspective? At the same time, you have B.Silva joining Man C for a bit over £50m, a player I would greatly prefer to Lukaku.
I mean, we are talking about a fee that is larger than that paid for Pogba less than a year ago. Pogba, for context, was the hottest property in Europe short of Ronaldo and Messi. It just seems unreal to top that for a player like Lukaku. Excellent at scoring goals sure, but also very limited in other areas.

Suddenly paying the clause for Belotti is no longer more than the cost of Lukaku. I hope that the board considers that.
My biggest concern is how Conte takes this. I would like to think that he isnt a child and realises that paying £100m for a limited player is insane, but I think we really need to finish some transfers to keep him happy.

We must look deeper
Bernardo Silva is 50 +25 bonus for a player who plays in a weaker championship, nothing says he will also be performing in PL
Bernardo Silva Monaco: 22 years 11 goals 10 assists 7.22 rating
Eden Hazard Lille: 21 years 20 goals 16 passes 7.80 rating

Romelu Lukaku is a full-fledged striker, who marks both right and left as well as the head.

He is accustomed to PL

He is considered a trained player in England

Even if he does not improve he should score at least 20 goals and if he progresses still he will fight for the top scorer every year

All this is taken into account in its price.

Morata, Belotti are great strikers but they have never played in PL

A Morata 170 games 58 goals 23 assists 6.85 rating
A. Belotti 111 games 45 goals 12 assists 6.99 rating
R Lukaku 204 games 96 goals 30 assists 7.11 rating

Maybe Lukaku was the least risky bet.

Sorry for my bad english but it's only 3 months I'm learning.

Everton are waiting on Manchester United to meet their total demands over the sale of Romelu Lukaku, which could amount to £90m, according to Sky sources.

If Mou doesn't win the league this season having bought the two most expensive players ever in back to back Summer's it'll be embarrassing.

£90m? F***ing 90m?

He's now worth more than world-class superstars!

His age, and the amount of goals he has scored in the premier league these past few years, makes him a world class superstar now.

Mourinho a couple of months ago -

Quote

I think Pogba's problem is the tag, the price tag on his back. I hope next summer he's not anymore the highest transfer fee and then the pressure goes to somebody else.

I hope next season some club beats the record with another player and then the pressure goes somewhere else.

I am pretty sure next summer some players with only half his quality will cost the same money.

Well done :D

Lukaku is a top class striker, no point pretending he isn't because people are butthurt over him potentially signing for Utd. Whether he will or can improve, we will see. I see no reason why he can't improve around other world class players, whether here or at Utd.

Talking as if Morata or belotti or the other targets we are linked to are world class. If you want world class Lewandowski is, Suarez Muller they are world class not belotti or morata or lukaku.

Lukaku is even closer to being world class than the others because he shows it both at club and international levels. What has Morata show at spain or Belotti shown at Italy. They are not even number one at their natinal teams.

Ok this is fucking laughable. What exactly has Lukaku shown at International level? Also Belotti's all round play is head and shoulders above Lukakus. Cant comment on Morata, havent seen enough of him.

Never implied Belotti or Morata are, not sure where your digging that up from. As for Lukaku, he's miles from world class, he's very good but has a long way to go to even get near the names you mentioned.

Lukaku is at this moment in time average at International level.

He's a quality striker, he is not world class, if you are putting him in the same bracket as Suarez, Lewandowski, Benzema then I suggest you go watch full games of everyone I mentioned.

Lukaku is at this moment in time average at International level, so much so he's struggling against Benteke.

Really against benteke really. that not correct

Maybe I have not understood, but have not Everton and Utd agreed a 75m fee already. Why do they have to agree a 90m fee now?
