He had problems when he was on loan at FC Cologne and later he came to Boro in the middle of season.

I think that this season he will have a different scenario in Boro because he will be able to train with them from the first day and that will allow him to enter in His daily routine and have more options to stay in their starting eleven and, thus, it may have more opportunities to show their performance.

I think that Kalas had a little slump in his way, but this season he will have a better scenario to show their abilities. I hope he can confirm what he has done with us, especially in that match against Liverpool where Kalas was perfect.

if i am a 22 year old CB, decently rated, i would want to find a club that would give me playtime. our history with our loanees is so bad that i would never sign an extension. simply tell them to sell me for anything and then try and restart my career.

True but like I said, it's a win-win. If it doesn't work out, we'll just sell him and get more money now that he's signed a new contract. No harm really.

I would have kept him around last season and depending on how that season went then either keep him around this season,loan or sell.

for me I would only loan players out if they are buried deep on the depth chart and/or have been given some game time and looked completely out of their depth..i don`t believe either of those are the case with Kalas..I think he would atleast be somebody who can be Brans understudy. and like Bran,he`s capable to play anywhere in the back 4.

Kalas started today for 'Boro & was deployed as RB. He got forward several times & tried to assist w/ the attack. Can't remember much of him defending but he was very active on the pitch.
