Chelsea look to secure youngster Islam Feruz on new five-year deal

Sky Sports understands Chelsea have offered Islam Feruz a new long-term deal to ward off interest from a host of top clubs.

Feruz is regarded as one of the best young players in the country and the Blues have offered the 18-year-old a bumper new five-year contract to secure his future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea beat a number of their Premier League rivals to Feruz's signature when they snapped him up from Celtic in September 2011.

The skilful forward is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Stamford Bridge and he was included by Jose Mourinho in the first-team squad for their pre-season tour of Asia this summer.

Feruz has impressed for Chelsea's Under-21s and in the Next Gen series over the last couple of seasons and is expected to be pushing to make the breakthrough into the first team in the near future.

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus are all thought to be monitoring Feruz's contract situation at Stamford Bridge and are waiting in the wings to move for the Scotland Under-21 international if he fails to agree the deal on offer from Chelsea.

If hes offered a big salary he will sign it, his agent is a money grabbing bastard who ultimately told him to leave Celtic where he was going to be given first team football for more money and reserve football at Chelsea.

Hes a talented kid but he would have been better at Celtic for now than Chelsea.

Hmm....it's prudent to tie down any young talent to a long-term contract but he's really not kicked on as much as everyone had hoped. Still a fantastic talent but needs to sort his head out and he's facing some real competition from the likes of Bamford, Brown and Solanke up top, and Boga and the like when he's used deeper.

At least we can get some money for him when he actually turns out good. Our problem has often been that we don't get enough for Youth players who have enjoye a genuine education here, like Borini or Cork just because they do not sign long term contracts. Even if they are not worldbeaters they should be worth a few millons to finance the money put into them by the club.

Well, signed a new contract and certainly showing he is deserving of that tonight. Scored a brace in the U21 game against Wolves and we won 2-1. Had been on a goalscoring drought so nice way to hit of again on the day he signed his new contract icon14.gif

What's happened to the lad. he's being absolutely awful and frustrating to watch this season. I have never rated his all round game and football IQ but atleast he use to bang in goals regularly and his technical ability was somewhat decent. now he just looks awful.

He's had a bad season. Can't give up on him just yet. I think maybe he's missing the partnership with Piazon as well. Whenever I've seen him this season, he's looked rather isolated and not really on the same page as everyone else. Hopefully he can strike a partnership with Brown or Solanke next season.
