Thibaut Courtois

I would blame Ivanovic first for that second goal. He shouldnt have to deal with that horrible backpass to begin with.

You would blame Ivanovic because you don't like him. It was Corrtois' fault, that's completely clear and an unacceptable one.

When you give a backward pass in a difficult position surrounded by opposition players to the weaker foot of your GK you make sure its a correct pass. It doesnt matter what the keeper does next. He could have misscontrolled and everyone would be all over Iva.

Now if you want to assume I dont like Branislav thats up to you but you couldnt be more wrong.

It wasn't a good pass from Iva by any means but even then that goal is mostly on Courtois, his decision to try to dribble past the player was one of the riskiest he could have made. He redeemed himself later on but that goal is at least 90% on him.

He made a mistake but only because Ivanovic made one before him. If he received a good pass, things could have been different. At least thats how I see it.

That Hull player was too close to him to kick the ball upfront, so he was obliged to do a dribble. Horrible decision of Iva and horrible pass too. 75% Iva's mistake, 25% Courtois' mistake

WTF ? Iva played

a) slow, nonchalant pass

b ) to Thibaut who was closed down by an opponent and had minimal time to reaction

c) to Thibaut's weakest foot

d) at the moment when we just conceded goal and were still shocked, opponent was on top of us

And I could possibly think of more. Yet 90% goal at least was on Thibaut :D

50-50 I'd say at most is on our goalkeeper.

Apart from that mistake, he was amazing. My MotD alongside, of course, Eden. His mental strength, reflex, commanding of the area and that calmness is amazing but collecting long balls is something else, head and shoulders above anyone at this level. He's right up there with Neuer. I'd pick him over Cech every day of the week, he's way better and at least this is the right call from Jose.

Disagree. He could have just kicked it to the sidelines. He messed up. It was a poor pass from Ivanovic that put his goalkeeper in a shitty situation but he should have done better.

Happy though that he showed mental durabillity after his mistake. You've got goalkeepers that make a mistake and then go on to have absolute stinkers of games because they're doubting themselves and constantly second guessing themselves because of the mistake.

He didn't. That's a good trait to have for a goalkeeper.

Anyone calling for Cech needs to have a word with themselves as he more then made up for the mistake.

True. No matter the foreplay, his decision was bad to say the least. How he pulled himself up by the hairs is what makes up a winners/champions DNA. So, we have a bipolar case: biggest fuck up, but also motm material. Id like him to show more, he is Chelsea material, no doubt.

This. Even if it was too risky to smash it to the sidelines he could have smashed it backwards and give them a corner, trying to dribble with a first touch from his weak foot was risky and it didn't pay off.

The speed of his footwork is sublime to get to saves, and with him being so big it needs to be. His error will be highlighted more than his saves by the MOTD wankers but his saves today were quite brilliant.
